  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You asked.
People can still be lukewarm, live in the flesh eventhou they are in faith. More holy according to example. I do have things to throw at him. (towards god). Better answer would be: 25Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 cor 1 KJV

You're right. That is a better answer.

__ John called himself the disciple that Jesus loved - David had a heart like God - Abraham was considered God's friend. Throughout scripture God has chosen certain people for certain tasks. Favoritism is not the word to use - he does show more mercy to some than he does others, He blesses some more than he does others, but it's not favoritism - it's because he knows their hearts.
Exodus 33:19-20 and he said, I will make all my goodness pass before the, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. And he said thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me and live. Also Romans 9:15.

One thing that I do not see anyone on the parts of the thread I have read addressing is the following.

Jesus promised us the Comforter and a part of His job, according to Jesus, is to convict the world of sin and of righteousness. How many people does "the world" leave out? The world includes everyone. None of us are isolated from contact with the Holy Spirit. He teaches, reaches, everyone on earth. It doesn't matter what nation or culture in which we live. He reaches and teaches despite national or cultural boundaries. And those who follow His leading are following God. The Spirit can lead us to salvation without us really understanding it if we just follow the dictates of what He teaches us.

God is not unfair or unjust. He leaves no one out of the loop and the knowledge and power of God. The Spirit teaches all of us, or at least attempts to because not all of us are open to His leading. If we are open to His leading we will make it to heaven. If we aren't no matter where we live we won't be going to heaven.

Do you think it was perfectly appropriate for God to cause such mental pain for someone who has been doing well? I dont think later blessings justify such playing with humans.

Do you think it was appropriate for God to put our sins on Christ and to cause him to suffer in our place?

What God put Job through was not just for Job's sake, but for ours. We have an awful lot to learn from that book.

This life is not about this life.

So what you learned from that book? Something which help you being better? Now when i think it this way. You could learn for not trying to be too wise. Like you see people having bad time in their lifes, you might think oh he must do things wrong or something along the lines. It was gods choice not ours. Whole system is gods choice. It could be different.

Learned that God said Job was right and his friends were wrong: They said Job suffered because he deserved it. He said no. God does what God does for God's own reasons. Likewise, God's grace is given by God's choice --not ours.

Learned that Grace, or lack of Grace is not out respect for how good a person is.

I learned that Satan can only do what God lets him do.

I learned that even way back then, the knowledge of God as Redeemer was around.

I learned that there are some funny sarcastic sayings in the Bible: "No doubt you are the People, and wisdom will die with you."

I learned that God cannot be judged --not even by someone like Job.

I learned some of the most beautiful words ever --Chapter 19:
"25 I know that my redeemer lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;
27 I myself will see him
with my own eyes—I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!"

I learned that God does things, each thing, for many reasons: He shoved Satan back a notch, no doubt making him even more frustrated, he made a book out of the incident, for the world to read and learn about him, he even granted Job's wish, said just before what I quoted, vs 23 "Oh that my words were recorded, that they were written in a scroll!"

Agreed I have no idea how deeply you have suffered, nor do you have any idea how deeply Christ suffered --and no, I'm not talking physical pain there, either.
So Christ has God's spirit in him with such anointing I'm not so sure about this "suffered much, not only physical pain theory". Walking in all peace and goodness. Little physical pain and insults can't be that big of a deal. Did he have constant back pain or did he have other painful disease or was he beated by demons day and night? Was he in utter loneliness many years in a row? Was he hopeless, was he helpless? Short duration pain is different that being in anguish for years.
