History:
NT was born only a few years ago to a fairy who had been terribly mistreated and then left stranded to fend for herself and the baby. The birth was a very unusual one, because NT's mother, fearing she'd die in childbirth, wanted to give her at least some chance at not starving to death as a helpless baby. She resorted to magic, turning the baby inside her into music, then letting her out that way, then helping her to appear as a grown girl who could talk, walk, reason and take care of herself as much as possible. Soon after NT's birth, her mother faded away into nothingness before her eyes. NT never got over this memory.
Her first few months were miserable and lonely, she missed her mother and ended up in a home with a lady called Monica, who was cold, aloof, and self-absorbed. Monica grumbled constantly about her own toddler and school-aged boy, and her pregnancy and praised one of her other boarders to the sky for helping out with the children - though NT had helped out just as much and needed a friend more than the other girl, who, as it turned out, had designs on Monica's boyfriend, so, moved up the ramp as soon as Monica called it quits with the family business. Luckily NT wasn't there any more when that happened but she heard about it and was naturally distressed. The subject of Monica is still too painful for her to want to talk about.
Nick, a young mage, was the next person to befriend NT, but he turned out to be a drip who confused friendship with love with pity with a crush, and hurt her terribly. She had much stronger morals than he did, he couldn't resist evil, and he couldn't talk her into doing or accepting evil things either. The big betrayal happened when another girl came along, wanted him all to herself, so she bullied NT. This girl had much more in common with Nick, and really knew how to play him for sympathy, so she got him to abandon NT as a friend.
Later, through a set of interesting circumstances, Ariel turned up in a remote hospital, alive. She and NT were reunited.

Even though NT has a good mother and a few supportive friends, some people such as a step-sister and a few others stomped all over her delicate psyche so much with utter deplorable acts of bullying and self-interest, putting her in a prison without bars. She's still got serious insecurities stemming back from the days of Monica that make her doubt her mother or friends will always be there. She can't trust most people and she feels powerless to stop her own suffering as well as that of anyone else she hears about. She is particularly sensitive to reports of cruelty, learning about acts of extreme violence can put her out of sorts for days.
Strengths:
Compassion and intelligence, magic immunity, no one can work magic on NT herself, though they can work magic on things around her to manipulate an outcome they want. She herself just can't be enchanted except by her own doing. She is also musical and can play piano and sing, though she finds it hard trying to do both at the same time. She can be very determined and fearless, and is already pretty jaded for someone so young. She has an unshakable ethic and a quiet but very strong belief in Jesus Christ, as does her mother.

Lacks self esteem and self confidence. NT is also profoundly effected by certain types of sound that can debilitate her with fear.
