I've always been one to thank God no matter how bad life gets. A couple years ago I was diagnosed with two very serious illnesses, one of which was congestive heart failure. This was halfway through my master's degree program (I'm in my forties). I marched on and praised God, even though it was extremely difficult just walking. It was a major life adjustment, but I kept on going.

This is my dilemma: I've been looking for work just under a year (a 9-5) now that school is done. A half dozen times I've made the top 2 or 3 out of hundreds and lost out. That's not a big deal, as that's life. However, things have been very difficult financially lately as I don't make much money at my service industry job. To the point where I'm looking for a second service industry job to make ends meet. It makes me sad to have to do that, especially in my physical condition. One of my illnesses requires multiple treatments every single day, so to have to be on my feet even more is extremely physically difficult. Yesterday I had an interview for a really good paying job which could get me off my feet and provide financial stability. Yet, they cancelled at the last minute. I've been asking God for help for months, yet silence. I don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

The subject of payer is interesting. It is easy to get into a mode of expecting that if we are faithful to pray, God will answer our prayers with what we want. However, this can elevate our will over God's.

When Jesus prayed in Gethsemane he asked if was possible to avoid the death he faced. However, he acknowledged that the Father's will was paramount.

Sometimes what happens to us can seem a mystery. We might never understand in this life why things are difficult or we suffer. It might be as obscure as providing an opportunity for someone else to help us.

It can bolster faith, while we work to resolve or manage our difficulties, to remain constant in our faith that God's will is best.

Disability is difficult, especially in the early days of it.

While my injury and subsequent disability was more sudden than an illness such as yours, your illness is still disability because of how limiting it it on how much you can earn and what type of work you can do and for how long.

I believe I am understanding correctly in that I'm of the belief your condition will only get worse with time, and your already in a later stage of the disease now correct?

I honestly think you should be speaking to your team of doctors now about getting you a disability report, what their thoughts are on how trying to work will affect your health as you go forward.

You want to work as long as possible but at the same time you also have to consider the time it takes to actually receive disability after you first apply for it.

Social Security didn't blink an eye about approving my application for disability - but from talking to people since that's absolutely unheard of.

But even with the speed of which my application was approved I still went bankrupt before receiving my first payment. Everyone does who becomes disabled - that's pretty universal.

I think maybe you should start looking forward now and begin preparing for it. Very seriously.

I had two children with me and dependant on me and it was all I could do to keep us all from being completely homeless during the period of first becoming unable to work and receiving my first payment.

You have to look at your life with a very serious eye, and consider moving if you have to in order to start paring your expenses down to the barest of minimums.

I'll pray for you.

Don't know if it's the case here but God often answers our prayers in a way we aren't expecting.

By the way, if you aren't already you might want to start taking 300mg of ubiquinol once a day, that can really help your cardiovascular system a lot over time. It's fairly cheap and easily available, you can even get it over the counter at Wal-Mart.

I don't know if you have a wife, or family, or children to support or whatnot or whatever, but if you do not, and it's just you right now, it might be time to, well, try to get on disability like some others have said, and beyond that, downsize a lot, and start preparing for your end, etc...

I know that might sound depressing at first, or right now, etc, because it sounds like you still have some pretty big plans/aspirations as it pertains to this world, etc, but with your condition(s) right now, that are probably just only going to get worse right now, etc, you really should maybe start preparing to cross over to the other side, and meet yours/mine/all of ours, "maker", soon at some point, etc, as your eternal destination and eternal concerns should be paramount right now, etc...

I wish I had some better news or better advice...

PM me anytime you wish...

God Bless.

Thanks for your insightful answer. I wholeheartedly agree. That said, I'm just trying to earn enough to keep a roof over my head and keep food on the table. This is the main point of my frustration.

Thank you for your answer. I'm sorry you went through so much, and I will pray for you. I tried disability once and got denied, but I will try again.

God Bless
