Not an aura....what is it?

Everybody is different, and maybe the first signs of this gift you have is to see only human auras. Maybe others will come later.

You know Liberty, I find it interesting that you are having a hard time accepting this what you see as an aura (in the traditional sense) (I think). The fact that you saw someone leave theirs behind would indicate that it's something different. Also it would seem that anyone who has been aware of something like this for as long as you have would have progressed beyond the basic "whiteness" of an aura and be seeing color by now.

I have been wondering for some time now if those of us who have had our spiritual experiences influenced by Charismatic Christianity actually see (or percieve) things differently than someone comming from a different religion. Not that I don't recognize many similarities. But some things just don't "appear" the way others describe them.

This is mostly just a general description of what I have encountered in trying to compare my experiences with others. I haven't even settled on any specific instances right now, and I'm racking my brain trying to come up with something cause I already know what your next question will be!!

This feeling that I have something different than others has been growing lately. It is kind of sending me back deeper into Christianity. What does it mean if Christians see one thing when their senses are opened to the spiritual realm, and everyone else sees something different? Or do the practitioners from each religion see something different?

So then why would you find it interesting that I don't accept it as a 'traditional' aura?

Good point...you would think so, huh?

While my religious experience has most definitely been influenced by Charismatic Christianity, the aura thing has in no way been affected by it. It has remained consistent both before, during and after the C.C. experience.

LOL!! Try using your *aura* as a lightbulb in the dark.... seriously... try it!

I know I am comparing to personal experiences, but I don't know whatelse to tell you

When I first heard that this wasn't a usual thing to see, I sat myself down infront of a mirror, at night, and took a look at my own aura. My *aura* was about 20 cm around my body, very strong. I looked away from the mirror at my hand... and it actually (don't know for sure) seemed to give light. I could see things better in the dark, when the white light was close to objects. I seemed to light things up....

This is a big maybe, seeing as I might of been imagining it

PS: this was before I knew what to do with it...

I see exactly the same thing that you describe around people, although I have never seen one get "left behind"

I too have been told that I have the gift of spiritual discernment, although I almost never discuss what I see this way. Like you, I can choose to see, or not see at will (most of the time) Other members of my family also have this sense... My agnostic (the way he describes himself) brother can see spirit beings everywhere, and for years, drank to "blot them out" because he finds them extremely disturbing given that he prefers science.

I have always thought that what I see is the spirit of the person. Also, that other beings can show up the same way if they are discerned - especially angels. (I have also "seen" demonic spirits a couple of times, and they have usually appeared to be like dark smoke to me)

I have an interesting theory for which I have absolutely no proof or any good backup...

That the original language of Mankind was more spiritual in nature than speech (speech could even have been "baby talk")
That at the Tower of Babel, God changed this somehow, so that this sense was "unconnected" in peoples brains
That accidents of heredity, birth, nature, nurture, ... ... can cause connections to reform causing people to see in the spiritual realm things that other people can't
That spiritual exercises, drugs, etc can affect this ability in either direction

Well - like I said - this is so much 'stuff' since I thought it all up in my own head, and have not really done much to study it other than talking to other members of my own family.

I agree. I don't know how else to explain it either except in Christian terms, but trying to develop these gifts on your own or for the wrong reasons does seem to upset God.

Liberty, that was just an expression!! I have no idea what it is that you are seeing, but sometimes I think I can see a little bit of it too. I haven't worked on it much, but really can't imagine it growing into what others describe auras to be with colors and all.

I think Merryheart's theory might be as good as any though!

Ahhh...gotcha. My apologies for taking it too literally.

(sorry if I'm being a bit on the defensive side. I've been attacked quite a bit lately on the forums and it's becoming almost natural to get defensive too soon.....I'm trying to keep that in check)

I have come up with some things beyond the biological or supernatural explanation offered [however very limited info] (your walking Shahran [not to be confused with the Arabic word] is certain a most complex occurrence). Yet, I feel a reservation about talking about it at this time and I trust my reservation is for good reason.

So on to the important part,

Your particular instance (from what you have explained) of the seeing of the Shahran (or reciprocal concentrate), I suspect is because God(s) wishes to train you in a skill for a purpose. I have a suspicion to what purpose that is; however, I must first inquire to what has been told to you on this matter by your consult.

I find this thread very interesting. Though I have never seen an "aura", I have the ability to "see" in the dark (I can't really see things like you do when there is light present, but I have a sort of sense that tells me exactly where things are. I leave the lights in my office at work off all the time and my boss and others laugh and always want to turn the lights on. I have always been able to do things either by feel or simply by seeing them without looking.

I also am very good at reading people's thoughts or attitude. My wife can attest to this. I am good at reading a persons intent, regardless of their actions.

And I have had lots of interaction with the spiritual realm, going back to when I was a kid. I have never played with ouija or any other kind of occult practice. Friends and people I work with joke that things follow me around.

I'm curious as to what your view is on spirits and other entities (ghosts, poultergeists, shadow people, etc.) since you have had quite a bit of experience with the occult and have the ability to see.

I am not quite certain. I used to believe that people could get 'stuck' here and roam around as 'ghosts'...I don't exactly disbelieve that now, but I have a lot of years of 'anything like that is demonic' to get out of my head

I guess I am (since my recent deconversion from fundamental/evangelical Christianity) trying to sort out what the truth is from everything else. I am having to go back a LOT of years to pull things from my memory on how I used to view things before my conversion, weigh those things against what I was taught as a Christian and my continued experiences, and try to put a balanced approach on it all.

So in other words, "I dunno"

I can tell you what I was taught before my conversion to Christianity....how's that?

I was taught that it was possible to have the spirit of a person roaming around, and they may or may not be able to move things (poltergeist activity) but that all poltergeist activity was not necessarily a deceased person. It could also be a spirit (one that has never been a person). Some of these spirits are good (guides), some are bad (demonic) and some are just impish and like to play pranks (a true poltergeist). Ghosts and shadow people, for the most part, would fall under deceased people who are hanging around, for whatever reason.

Christianity taught me that all, all, all activity like this was evil. The only exception was if I were to see an angel, and they announced themselves as such and they also passed the "Jesus is Lord" test....well, you can guess how often that happened So I spent a good portion of my life trying to 'rebuke' anything remotely spiritual. It's been a frustrating 20 years.....lol.

Does that help any?

Also, I have a question. When you (or anyone else claiming to see something similar) see these "auras" are there ever any people who have more "explosions" or energy coming from the top of the head region?

It has been my experience that most Christians will find a way to make anything that they fear into a sin or something evil.

For me, the jury is still out on this. I too, have 33 years of doctrine that I need to sort through and decide what is truth and what isn't, so I sure know where you're coming from.

I have been reading what you gave me and it is all very interesting.

I've never noticed 'explosions' of energy once an aura presents itself, but once in a while an aura will 'pop' or 'explode' out of seemingly nowhere...and it certainly gets my attention.

Not an aura....what is it?
