"Discussions in Ethics and Morality may sometimes lead to discussion on sexuality and sexual practices, this is acceptable, what is not acceptable are any posts which are vulgar and/or sexually explicit. Such posts will be removed." WHEN?
http://christianforums.com/showthrea...ually+explicit

Teenage 'Fornication'
Fornication definition
Getting forgiveness for being a complete self-indulgent moron (masturbation related)
Weird sexual attractions.
Christian Hedonism
Why is incest a sin?
Already lusted, so it is OK to have SEX?
Should prostitutes be able to adopt?
Swingers - Swapping Partners

How does one discuss sexuality and sexual practices without being sexually explicit? Will Song of Songs metaphors be required for all discussions involving sex?

This is just a sample of recent threads. CF is operating contrary to its own guidelines by not removing these threads. CF seems to have painted itself into a corner with these nonsensical guidelines which accept the introduction of sexual discussion and forbid it at the same time.

CF is self-described as,
"An online forums-based self-governing social networking community guided by Christian principles for everyone." Right now, CF isn't a place for kids.

Why are there not age restrictions on certain forums to prevent kids from seeing things they shouldn't?

Well, firstly, most of those threads are in Christian Philosophy & Ethics, not E&M.

Secondly, depends what you mean by "explicit". I don't think there's anything in those threads that's going to harm a 13-year-old, to be honest.

I like to think we are adults here... .....or near enough *looks shiftily at various members* lol.

There is a difference between discussing sexuality, and using just for the hell of it,

ex: "that's as good as *insert sex move"

There is no need for that, it 's bringing sex up just for the hell of it, not becuase it is a debate.

Inappropriate doesn't relate to what exactly is said, but in what context it is said.

The median age for this forum is approx. 18. That means about half the members of this forum are minors. Adult discussions of sexual matters should take place in forums that have age restrictions to keep minors out.

If a child/teen has a question of a sexual nature, it should be directed to a online counselor/pastor/chaplain in private. A kid coming to a Christian forum shouldn't be exposed to discussions of sex that deviate from what the Bible explicitly states to be inappropriate (swingers, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, etc.), subjects broached in the links above.

In other words, CF shouldn't be in the business of corrupting kids with sexual deviancy. An adult has the right to choose one's own path; children and teens should not be led astray from the straight and narrow path the Bible teaches.

The world may say Christians have no right telling others what it right or wrong, but to be true to their Christian morals, they should uphold them in forums that bear the "Christian" label, if for no other reason than authenticity.

There is nothing on CF that a thirteen-year-old child can't have heard in the playground.

I agree, but would say in response that ChristianForums.com should set its moral standards for discussion higher than playground talk.

Also, being a website that describes itself as, "An online forums-based self-governing social networking community guided by Christian principles for everyone," parents have a reasonable expectation that ChristianForums.com is a "safe site" for their kids.

The term 'minor' is simply a legal one, but it implies the inability of under-18s to deal with the topics mentioned. Personally, I think the age limit of 13 is a good one for the issues discussed on CF. It is a vast underestimation of teens to say they can't deal with these sorts of issues.

Wait, so if a 17 year old ask a question about sex... Personally, I be more shocked s/he didn't already know about it. Remember, minors aren't sexually innocent. About 1/2 of minors below age 14 are in the fact they haven't committed a sexual act, but most of those probably already know about it.

You know, I think back when I was 14(or there about) I was discussing sex on here. One day, my mom saw a bunch of webpages titled 'sex' and other such things, and fearing the worse but wanting to make sure, she went to them. What she found was me defending my choice to abstain from sex on this forum. I don't think she ever again questioned what I did online. So if anything, CF helped me not have sex by allowing me to talk about it. Of course, if you don't like people not having sex, we could ban such discussions...

In the end though, CF can be a place where teens (and there should not be any pre-teens are below) can discuss sex where there are mature people who won't say "Watch w8ing 4, SEX is gr8!!!!111" like many other forums where teenagers go to discuss things like sex or CF can be a place where we push those people away to other areas where they will find people encouraging them to have sex.

Well, yes, I don't think it would be a bad idea to put age recommendations on certain forums. I say recommendations because what? Is a "restriction" going to stop anybody? Really? I think we should indeed label forums with "You should be so-and-so years old blah blah parental blah."

Then maybe we could swear on some forums, or even use insults without worrying about someone getting offended, because I'm "flaming" or "baiting."

I agree, public schools are evil institutions that are ruining our children.
Did you know that Marilyn Manson went to a Christian school?

The most alcohol use I've ever seen in my life was at a dry dorm at a Christian college... evidenced in the form of emptied cans overflowing from the trash-cans and dried vomit plastered to the lid and seat of the toilets. I took photos. I'll see if I can find them again.

The highest rates of drug use, pregnancy, abortion and crime are in public schools however. Its a Godless curriculum that teaches children that we came from monkeys and thus are animals pretty much. It devalues the dignity of human life

Can you explain to me how knowledge of this kind can "ruin" anybody?
