exactly... which is why I believe that the analogy can only be taken so far.... unfortunately some are serious stuck there and have no desire to see past the analogy... in fact elaborate beliefs have been developed because of the fixation on the sacrificial system.....Is it really a non trival question? For instance if you did not have any knowledge of the Jewish sacrificial system would you not understand the message of the New Testament? Aside from the book of Hebrews the New Testament makes little use of the Old sacrificial system. And it seems to me Hebrews is written to appeal to people that already believe in the Jewish Sacrificial system and is meant to appeal to their history and traditions could be fulfilled in Christ. Something that the Gentiles had no need of at all.
The problem today is Christianity has assumed that the sacrificial system pointed to the Messiah even though that was never the Jewish view and impossible to see for those people at that time. It can only be seen when looking back from the perspective of Christ as the Messiah. Then because we can make Christ fit with some of the Jewish sacrificial ideas we think we have to make Christ fit with them all, which we can do if we do not get too detailed in the application.

When Jesus said the Scriptures speak of Him He is referring to His identification as God. And since many of the stories are about particular people and events they are not about God, such as Lot's daughters sleeping with him and getting pregnant...that is not a story about God. I hope you see the difference.That's an interesting take if you ignore the fact that gentiles have been grafted into the branch. Hence it would seem clear that if we have been made partakers with Christ we should have a little insight in how the family came about.
We do have insight on how the family came about that does not mean that all the ceremonies had literal fulfillments.
In other words, we gentiles have been given the same instruction manual as everyone else. Besides, I thought the Bible said there were no more Jews or gentiles, but just those in Jesus Christ.
That would be what the Judaizers would have said. As they tried to make the Gentiles obey Jewish laws but the Apostles fought against that. As there are indeed no more Jew and Gentile in God's eyes all have equal access to God.
What was the Jewish view of the ceremonial system then?
That would take more time then I will want to take. You can certainly read about the Jewish views on various websites and the Jewish Encylopedia. You would be well adviced to do that and learn what they did and did not believe as it is far different then what Christian tradition asserts.

Actually most of the Old Testament does not speak about him. You can practically open up to anyplace and it will not be about Jesus. Much more of the Old Testament is about God, so in that sense it is also about Jesus since He is God, but in most of those instances it is not about future Messiah activities. Just so you understand such books as Ecclesiastes and Judges are not about Jesus. The story of Sodom and Gomorroha, the flood or so many events are not about Jesus. You can draw comparisons based upon the life of Christ to stories like Doug Batchelor does with Joseph but the stories themselves are not about Jesus.
This is actually so obvious yet for most Fundamentalists this is a concept they can't grasp. Probably because they have such a superficial understanding of the Bible.

I didn't think I would need to explain this but by saying that God found in every word means simply that every word was inspired and breathed by God for the prophets to write, meaning that God is the author of the Bible.
Otherwise, if He wasn't, it would merely be folklore and fables.
