Nicolo Machiavelli?

This may seem like an odd place to post a subject about him, but I was wondering what you people as Orthodox Christians felt about this man? I ask this because I have to study a Philosopher, and I was considering studying him. So what do you all think of him and his work?

He was brilliant. However, if you want to mix your Orthodoxy with this, I suggest Aristotle or Plato. There are icons of them on Mt. Athos. Minus halos, of course.

Wow! I had no idea that there were Icons of Plato and Aristotle in Mount Athos. Do you have any pics of them?

Maybe it wasn't Aristotle, but Socrates. Plato and Socrates. No photos, sorry; I've never been. My priest took a trip recently to Mt. Athos and told me about them. In amongst the Saints, Icons of these halo-less philosophers. I thought it was fascinating. One day I wish to see for myself.
