  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all

Just announcing that Joykins will be replacing CaDan as the new CF Ombudsman effective immediately.

CaDan will remain as a CF Conciliator.

I want to thank CaDan for his contribution to the site.

Just a reminder that the appointment of the Ombudsman and Conciliator is totally independent of the CF Executive - they have no say to who I appoint as the Ombudsman and in fact I do not consult them on such appointments or changes, although staff are free to provide me with feedback. I say this to assure members that the Ombudsman position is independent of the Executive and the rest of staff.

I don't mean discussing CaDan, I mean discussing CaDan in the position of ombudsman. Were there discussions about him being in that particular position, and whether or not he was suitable in the exec forum, initated by members of the exec other than yourself?

That would be private information - we have a private Exec forum for a reason, you do realise. Like I said, all decisions about the Ombudsman and Conciliators are mine. Everything else will be the responsibility of the Exec.
