• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi JRock007,
It is hard to change the things that you associate with taking the drug, I will pray for you that the Lord will show you how to come through. Comeing off drugs is the first step but staying off is the hardest, especially in the early days and months. As you have to learn diffirent stratigies to deal with your emotions. Habits are easy to form but take abit of time to break. You have to learn diffirent ways of doing things, there are many groups around that can help. You need to be accountable to someone so that when you feel bad you can talk it through with them and they can support you. I will pray for you and ask the Lord to direct your steps to the right place. Also I will pray for a hedge of protection around you.

Congrats on your clean time. The first month is the hardest.

Finding something different to do with your time, and build your self-esteem can help you deal with the cravings. Exercise is great because it gets the endorphins going in the brain. Hobbies are good too, like crafts or book reading. Get involved in volunteer work too. Help others who are worse off than you by volunteering at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter.

God bless.
