  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

They explained that I could, but preferred if I didn't. They also said I was encouraged to take part in confession prior to converting which is the opposite of what I thought but it's very possible I misunderstood my battalion chaplain when it was explained to me many years ago. I didn't think to ask if I should start confession immediately or if I'm supposed to wait for 1 of these 2 sets of classes, but I can always ask again when we go for our tour of the grounds or just send an email.

OK. Many places encourage it. Not receiving communion before you are in full communion, but just going up for a blessing.
As I understand it you can go meet with a priest in what to all outward appearances would otherwise be called a confession. Just explain that you are on the road to becoming Catholic. It wouldn't be sacramental confession but the priest could guide you through what is called a perfect act of contrition. At least that's how I understand it.
