The Book of Enoch was quoted from. One important consideration is that in the days of the early church, scrolls were passed around. They didn't have the New Testament. Cult like theologies wasted no time in coming out, particularly after Paul was gone and was no longer rooting these things out. Many came up with their own "gospels" instructing the church to believe things that were not of God. The gnostics were famous for this, and they supposedly went back centuries before even Jesus doing this very thing. Guess who was responsible for that? Deceiving spirits.

So for someone to include something that was in mentioned in scripture, seems to give validation to the message, but not necessarily. Also, in spite of the place given to that book in that day (the real book), God still decided not to include that in the canon of scripture. If you know anything about scripture (I assume you all do), God protects His revelation. Some real junk has already been removed. Back in the more "religious" days, where the spirit of religion (demonic) practically reigned, some other books were also included. Before the Word went to the masses, quite a bit of counterfeit "revelation" already was nixed.

Since we have a quote in scripture we can receive that part that was included, but we should be VERY careful about embracing other books that just so happen to have the name mentioned in the Bible. The enemy is very clever. If the Holy Spirit wanted the church at large to share in a Book of Enoch that was really of God, He would be actively promoting it.

There are literal schisms in the church over these things and the Holy Spirit never divides (except from the spirit of religion). God is providing new revelation even now, but it must agree with scripture.

Man has tampered with the word of god and removed several books from the bible. That all happend during the council of Niciya.
And Constantien buchtered the word.
You need to stop thinking it was god who edited his own word and realized it was man.
These men who did this were not our friends.
And their doing the same thing today with the N.I.V.
They Love it when some new edition of the bible comes out SO THEY CAN PUT A COPY RIGHT ON IT!!
OH BY THE WAY THE SAME COMPANEY THAT PRODUCES THE N.I.V ALSO
PRINTS BIBLES FOR THE CHURCH OF SATAN!!!!

It was man that wrote the Bible. You must see the hand of God in bringing it together. Some adjustments were made when the hand of man did get involved.

They're still involved in it today with various translations. It's being diluted. At the same time, God has protected His Word. While no English translation is perfect, He has everything to do with deciding what books ended up in it. The book of the most popular book in the entire world, bar none. If you don't think God's hand is in what goes in it, you might set aside some time in prayer about it.

Just the fact that He keeps calling it "My Word" indicates His ownership in what is in it. If God wanted what is represented as the Book of Enoch in it, it would surely be there. God reigns!

The bible was an Oral traditon for thousands of years and thousands of years. in fact the time that the word of god has spent on paper and not in some seer is only about 1% of it's total time on planet earth.

Much of the "Book of Moses" was memorized, even by children.

The oracles of God have been carefully safeguarded for thousands of years. All of the historical books were "books". Collection of scrolls. They were carefully copied in a way to safeguard their accuracy. If they a mistake, they started over. If they became aged or soiled, they burned them and buried the ashes. This goes back to the time in the Arabian desert. So written accounts go pretty far back.

The law given by God to Moses was very precise. God told the people of Israel to keep it in their mouths and in their hearts. The priests even physically wore devices to enable them to do so. They were told to teach it to their children and their grandchildren.

When certain prophecies were destroyed by someone, God replaced the Himself. They are given to ALL of His children for their admonition and comfort. They are eternal. God stands behind them and protects the revelation of them.

Many have tried to introduce other texts. When I read prophetic words today, the Holy Spirit quickens or makes them alive. I do not really see that in the Book of Enoch. In fact, whenever I have seen posts of people quoting it, I notice a spiritual oppression seems to accompany it, just like when I read information from cults, or people who have websites that judge servants in the Body of Christ, improperly branding them as heretics.

God has had a lot of opportunities to let the many groups who walk in the power of the Spirit to benefit from such a thing if it were available to the church. Funny how He has NOT done so. That is very suspect. We judge by the fruits, and I have yet to see something from that yet that had fruit of the Holy Spirit in it.

Go ahead and post your favorite passage (not what's in the Bible) because any counterfeit can include that and claim their book is authentic.

I'll be looking for a manifestation of the Spirit of truth, and their is no replacement for the voice of the Good Shepherd. Without that, we have a historical account that may or may not even be true. God does not confirm heresy and empty tradition. I would welcome God's attempt to add to what He quickens this day and will ask Him, but I will not accept it based on a claim even made centuries ago. It's absence in the Word is highly suspect, seeing that God DOES have a say in what goes in our beloved book.

Once heard a story about this guy, one of these Indian Shamans types. The guy had memorized the whole History of the tribe. An Anthropologist wanted to know something about the tribe that happened like a hundred years ago but the guy couldn't go directly to the spot like we might do with a digital video. More like a tape recorder the guy had to start from the start and resight the whole history till he got to the point the scientist was interested in.

Weird...

I think they they done further studies and the guy was repeating the same thing over and over, word for word.

Hi Shifty,
I applaud your questioning - if only more people wanted to use more discernment regarding finding a church. Don't permit yourself to be brainwashed by one leader/organization/person - there's nothing wrong with challenging authoritative teaching when you're seeking truth. (I could have spared myself much grief had I done this in years gone by).

The foundation of the Christian faith is the Bible, and it's the medium through which you should test the soundness of rhetoric, doctrine, etc. Thus, seek out a church that teaches people proper Bible study methods; the formal word for this is "hermeneutics" and it involves understanding the historical passage-based context of the text being studied, along with considering the original language in which it was written (Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek). Once you start getting a good, basic sense of how to properly study scripture, you will be more adept at making your own educated decisions.

BTW, you may have to do a little searching for a church that actually teaches its people these methods. If you find a church you like, see if you can find a mentor in the church (approach a pastor, maybe) and see if they can get a seasoned teacher to instruct you on basic Bible study if they don't offer formal classes.
