I could life with Traditional SDA, or Historic SDA, or even what was it listed above that T&O said, Fundamental Belief Adventist. I think they all acuratly describe what we stand for.

I think traditional would be fine. I would like to avoid historic, as that has taken on a lot of connotations that we might wish to avoid, at least with certain crowds.

Some non-supporting ministries take on that title and accuse the denomination of being babylon. That might make some people regard our forum as different from the mainstream just as they might assume that the progressives are more extreme on the other side.

Point well taken Tall, thank you. I do forget about the groups with agenda's. So probably "Traditional" is the best way to go. It now has my full support.

I agree that a poll is a good idea once all of the possibilities have been discussed. When you all feel that you have discussed all the options, either start a poll with all the options, or let me know and I'll post it. Whatever you guys want.

I still like Fundamental Belief Adventists, but traditional basically means the same thing so I think it's cool. We should probably wait for the people that don't get online during the weekend to hear their 2 cents worth first though.

The only thing I have against "traditional" is the base word, "tradition". We don't follow tradition, so actually, Trust, I like YOUR idea better.

However, I will go with the majority vote...whatever it turns out to be.

Here's the definition(s) of traditional:

1 : an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behavior (as a religious practice or a social custom)
2 : the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction
3 : cultural continuity in social attitudes, customs, and institutions
4 : characteristic manner, method, or style

I like definition #2. Fundamental Beliefs are what we hold firm on though so I think we should at least consider "Fundamental Belief Adventists."

No, if I had my way, we'd go with your idea...I'm simply saying I will go along with the popular vote whatever it may be...but we "rag" on Catholics for following the "traditions" of men...do we REALLY want to be called "traditional"?

Just asking for some deep thought into that first.

I agree, "traditional" probably places a connotation on our beliefs that we don't want there.

My vote is still for Fundamental Belief Adventists...or we could always go with "SUPER Adventist Powers...ACTIVATE. In the form of....a theologian".

On a serious note, I think Tall is right in what he said about "historic" Adventists, so they would probably take offense to us using Traditional since they could submit that they are more traditional than we are (which is true).

And just so you know Sasssiness, Historic Adventists cannot stand Leo Schreven (gasp...).

Religious traditions are not BAD unless they are NOT founded on the Word. The bible tells us that it was Jesus's CUSTOM (tradition) to attend church on Sabbath. Now nothing wrong with "that" tradition. But the "sunday" tradition is of man, and not God--therefore it is a "bad" tradition. The say we are "Traditinal" SDA's is actually GOOD--because those traditions are biblically based!

SOOOO--lol--having said that--either one is fine with me!! lol
