My mom is already in the mindset of dieing. Help?

How old is she?

It's more than possible that she's just afraid. Talking as though the worst is likely to happen is a way of preparing herself if it comes to that. If it is really serious, she's already crossed that bridge in her mind, and if the news turns out to be good instead, there's no harm done by talking as she is doing. I'd say not to debate with her about it, although it upsets you to hear her talk this way; it's a method by which some patients can release their emotions.

I don't know about the survival rates for that kind of cancer--if it is that at all--but I seem to know a number of people who have had operations on their thyroids and are now doing fine.

I heard a preaching by Pastor Paul Begley recently where he said that his mother had cancer and the doctors did not have much hope. He said that the Lord told him to stick all His promises on the wall, fridge everywhere and she can read them. One day she turned to the wall and saw this verse: "By His stripes we are healed". She started praying to God to heal her. In 2013 it has been 50 years since she has been cured of cancer. I just wanted you to know this.

She's always had trust issues with God n such since her parents died. She's been through a lot. I keep praying for her to have a soft heart but she has so much pain/anger that it seems like it's impossible for her to give it up to God. If God forbid something was wrong with her, I'd hate for her to just not even try n not give God the chance to heal her.

How can I open her eyes on this? I don't want her to keep saying depressing things and I want her to stay positive. I've been praying so hard for her n I'm sure it's really hard. Advice?

Sounds like your mum is hiding her feelings of intense fear of cancer by accepting it. Not much you can do for her than to keep praying, you can also encourage her to read her Bible and if possible talk to your Pastor or Priest about it, it would be nice if they offer to counsel her. God bless.

She might be saying that to help you adjust to the idea. Parents don't stop worrying about their kids when hitting 18 or a certain number. It's a normal fear for a mother to worry about how their kids will handle potential loss.

Also, she might be needing more help than she's directly asking for. See if there are little things you can do to assist her with daily living. Driving to doctor appts and taking notes, carrying groceries, etc.

Also consider how depression is a medical symptom, not just a mood or decision. It is hard to pull oneself out of despair when despair is a real result of an imbalance, medication, or ailment.

In any case, it sounds like she is crying out to be heard and understood -- see if you can find a friend or ally who might walk her through her upcoming decisions.

hi.. because of what i am about to tell you. i wanna make it clear that i am not charismatic, pentecostal, or anything like that..
i have an uncle living in north bay, canada.. 60years ago the doctors told him that there was nothing more they could do.. he went to the church that weekend and they laid hands on him.. the following week he went beck to the doctors, and after several more test.. it was confirmed that the cancer was gone.. also my great aunt fell through the ice as a child and drowned. she was gone for an hour, and when they brought her back. she was blind and paralyzed. she asked them why did you bring me back. i was playing in fields of daisies..
what i am trying to say here, is that nothing is impossible with God..
science is not the end all and be all of anything.. it is where lack of child like faith forces one to give a practical account for the things that mystify us..
don't get me wrong.. i think science is awesome.. i believe that the Lord performs miracles thru science all the time...
but, it truly is faith that heals us.. even if it only the faith to trust a doctor with our life.
i think that you are concentrating on the wrong thing here.. you souldn't be disputing your mothers words, or attitude here..
what you need to be doing, is getting her to rejoice in things like the comforting that God is providing you all while you are going thru this.. you should be talking about how glorious it is when we do go and be with the Lord.. you should be inputting the positive.. not rebuking her for having a negative attitude..
no matter how negative she me get.. you need to hum/sing while you are around her. smile alot.. rejoice, and be sure that she sees this.. it wont be long til she starts getting a little bounce in her step also..
what i am trying to say here. is that it does nobody any good if if you are "all" bummed out.. but if you, yourself, just add a little spark.. you might possibly set her heart ablaze..
