Because many people who reject evolution because certain *ahem* "documentation" contradicts it, I think it's high time we put the accuracy of that "documentation" under scrutiny.
When the women went to Jesus' tomb following his resurrection, was Jesus there?
I'm humoring them.... willing to play the game by their rules for the sake of discussion.
Besides, according to many of those "evolution rejectors," the documentation in question is the work of a single author... or should I say Author?
You doubt that it is true.
You SHOULD also assume it is true.
Because you do not know. Nobody knows.
Under that circumstances, what should you (people) do?
What you do is to doubt it and eventually reject it.
What else SHOULD you do in order to be reasonable?
Are you a reasonable man? What a reasonable man CAN do in that situation?
Your OP is not a challenge to anyone else, but to YOU.
What a fascinating non-answer.
Tell me, why should I assume that it's true?
It is simply a scientific attitude if someone is trying to explore the truth of a matter which is not certain by existed evidences.
How would a historian treat such a document? How do YOU treat such a document?
The same way I have treated it... "If this is true, then a, b, and c should also be true...."
And when it becomes obvious that a, b, and c are not true, there's only one conclusion, now is there?
So, I have my version of a, b, and c. And you have yours.
Why don't we compare them?
What is your "a" if the document, as you implied, is wrong?
You're doing it wrong.
If the documentation is correct, then "a" is true.
Really, juven, this is basic stuff.
It goes both ways.
And it is a challenge to yourself.
Paul said, if the document is wrong, then Christianity won't exist.
It goes both ways.
And it is a challenge to yourself.
Paul said, if the document is wrong, then Christianity won't exist.
Actually, it doesn't "go both ways." I issue challenge, you answer it -- or stall.
You mean 1 Corinthians 15:19? Actually, Paul said that if the documentation was wrong, Christians would be the most pathetic and wretched people in the world.
It helps to paraphrase Scripture accurately.
I paraphrase it correctly.
Well, if you do not see your problem, then suit yourself.
Now there's a contradiction in terms, if I ever saw one.If one looks at the work of well credentialed scholar of the NT,
