"Mrs. McTats and Her Houseful of Cats", by Alyssa Satin Capucilli

"The 13 Nights of Halloween", by Rebecca Dickinson

We've enjoyed these book series as a family (we read outloud A LOT)...

The Chronicles of Narnia series

Harry Potter series

Wrinkle in Time series

Spiderwick Chronicles series

The Boxcar Children series (we haven't read them all)

Nancy Drew series (we haven't read them all, but my girls love figuring out the mysteries)

and I already mentioned the Anne of Green Gables series

Oh yes, Goodnight Moon is one of my all time favourites. It is Matt's bedtime story.

I also love the Wrinkle in Time books.

My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes is good, so is Dear Zoo.

Oh I have too many to write here!

Oh, Junie B. Jones, I remember the young kids loving her books when I taught.

I read the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe to my 6 year old a few months ago. He really enjoyed it, but was a bit concerned about the "war" bits.

I posted a thread about my 3 yo daughter and her apparent dislike of books. I think I found the right book for her lol. It's called "and Kangaroo played His Didgeridoo" She really loves it. It's a rhyming book with cute pictures.

HeatherJay, I can't wait until my dd is old enough for Anne of Green Gables. I just can't wait, it was my absolute favourite growing up!!!! I still love it.

Harold and the Purple Crayon
Little Golden Books, especially the ones labelled Classics: The Tawny Scrawny Lion,
The Saggy Baggy Elephant, The Pokey Little Puppy, and a lot of others. I'm trying to find Animal Orchestra. I remember loving that story.
Anything by Richard Scarry or Sandra Boynton.

Some reference books, like dictionaries, about the human body, animals, how things work, etc.

This list is starting to sound like an inventory list for a school library

Well, I just submitted this month's book order form for Pinkguard at school. They had "Puff the Magic Dragon".

I had to think about it for a while, but decided to go ahead and add it to the list in spite of it's questionable reputation as a song.

Today, I still wonder whether my 3rd grade teacher had herself a good laugh each time she forced us to sing the song and read the book.

I've been reading that book to my kids for over a decade, and I still can't make it through it without getting a catch in my voice and a tear in my eye.
