I may be wrong about this, but I think it is generally a Baptist position that the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week. Since the Messiah said that He would be in the "heart of the earth" for 3 nights, how do they account for the lack of a third night?

Baptist churches vary. One of the Baptist distinctives is the autonomy under Christ of the local church. So there is no overall Baptist position on this matter. I have come across Baptist who do believe that Jesus died on the sixth day of the week and rose on the first. Others believe that He was crucified on Wednesday or Thursday.

So, I wonder how those who do believe in a 6th day of the week crucifixion account for the lack of a 3rd night?

And remember, the someone new needs to be someone who thinks the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week with the resurrection taking place on the 1st day of the week, and who thinks that the "heart of the earth" is referring to the tomb and who tries to explain the lack of a 3rd night by saying that the Messiah was using common figure of speech/colloquial language.

It appears that you're not someone who thinks the crucifixion took place on the 6th day of the week. This topic is really directed to those who do.
Hello. I would say your topic is directed to those who have never read Matthew 12:40 then? God Bless.
