I was wondering if there are any bands or musical groups that are known to be Methodists. I know that there are plenty of Methodists who play music. I know that there have been Methodist composers.
I am asking if there are any like the contemporary Christian musicians like the artists that play on Air1/K-Love, even if it is just within the Methodist church.
The ELCA has quite a few indie artists, or at least they had them. Many have moved on, but they still sometimes dabble in the music, too.
The ELCA has or has had Lost And Found (www.speedwood.com), Jonathan Rundman (www.jonathanrundman.com), Rachel Kurtz (www.rachelkurtz.com) , and Agape (www.hiphopoutreach.com). There have probably been more, but these are the ones that I know.
While these people would perform anywhere they could book gigs, it was very common to see them at ELCA events.
Anything like that in the UMC?
