  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The mainstream media as a whole slants

  • LEFT.

  • RIGHT.

  • BIAS? What Bias?

It's not big enough news... it has nothing to do with Iraq or our soldiers dying.

(or SS, or Illegal Immigrants, or taxes...)

Come on... the self-proclaimed leader in the war against terrorism refusing to extradite a known terrorist isn't big news? He's asking for asylum in the U.S. and we might just give it to him!

Clear proof of the right wing bias in todays news media.

And when the media ignored Clinton's pardon of Susan Rosenberg, or squashed the story of his pardon's for the FALN, was that also right-wing whitewash? A Left-wing terrorist is hiding more explosives than McVeigh used, but Clintons sees fit to pardon her,...and I had to hear about it from George Will, for pity's sake. http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=16081

People are talking about Bush and a guy accused of being a terrorist. suddenly a post is up about something Clinton did. How does what someone else did have anything to do with the discussion? Just thought it was funny!
tulc(well not falling on the floor funny, more of a "struck me kind of funny" funny.)

We were discussing the media alleged right-wing bias-because they didn't cover Bushes treatment of a Cuban terrorist, so I posted about the media ignoring Clintons treatment of known terrorists, (and the media silence on those matters) and asked if that was how a right-wing media behaved....
I'm not talking about what Clinton did, Tulc, nor am I laying any blame...I'm talking about how the media ignored it. Read the post a couple more times,....you'll see it.

While I am not by any means defending the way people are chosen for pardons by Presidents, to compare Rosenberg's pardon to the lack of coverage in Bush's protection of a known terrorist aren't even close. As with a lot of Clinton's pardons, Rosenburg was widely poo poo'ed and was by no means flown under the media wire to the point there was talk about scrapping the whole process by one side of the House.

Depends on who you ask. Ask a conservative and they will tell you, most media moguls are libreals and like to slant the news to make this adminstration look bad. Ask a libreal, and they will tell you, those filthy rich pigs are making so much money from Bush, they can do nothing but support him.

In my view, I just consider the source.

"poo-poo'd" by WHO? As I said, I keep up with most major news news outlets, and didn't hear a peep about it until George Will did a column about it. Hardly the behavior of a right-wing media as some are positing on this thread. How anyone can watch CBS and see a right-wing bias staggers the imagination.

The very preference of truth and correctness over their opposites constitutes bias. Rather than deluding ourselves with the supposition that we alone are objective, why not admit our biases up front? Is that asking so much? What a stupid question! Of course it is!

Blessings!
