I was just curious if any of you have heard of Matt Maher. He's a Catholic musician and sings a lot of the new contemperary christian music. I had the chance to go to one of his concerts last week and he's pretty good. Maybe you've heard of some of his most popular songs? "I Love You, Lord" and "Just Like You".

I'm glad a few have heard of him!

A few of us from our local youth group were disappointed that he didn't sing "Just Like You", so after the concert we were in the hall, singing it and doing our own hand motions to the song. He finally came out and we convinced him to grab his guitar to sing the chorus with us. It was awesome!

There are hand motions to "Just Like You" now? Wow.

Matt Maher is a great guy and musician. I've had many wonderful opportunities to hear him play, and each time has been amazing...he introduced me to the music of David Crowder Band

I don't think they're official or anything. Our youth group was hosting a VBS and that was a song we played for the kids. So, to make it more fun for them, we made up motions.

Yeah...I've never been a big fan of hand motions for songs, more because when people do them, they tend to be different from the ones I learned! Haha.

I'm a huge Matt Maher fan, a new one but really like his work. Just this weekend I was at a lifeteen training session (one that Matt Maher was a big part of), which was preceded by a concert the night before, featureing Matt Maher. I really enjoy his music, it's great to hear lines like "Transubstantiation; Heaven kisses Earth, We become a living tabernacle" from a CC artists.

He is also very respectful of the liturgy and keeping it Catholic.

I am not into the waiving my hands at mass and I personally prefer more traditional masses, even though about every Sunday I attened the Lifeteen mass.

I'm completely with you on this topic. My parish is very traditional and I love it. We have a lifeteen program, but we don't do a lifeteen Mass. I don't mind the contemperary music and "hand waiving"- so long as it is outside of Mass. Even at that, I still find myself a bit awckward at that type of worship. But, each to his own... as long as it's outside of Mass.

I've heard of him and personally know him, I was raised in the LifeTeen program at St. Timothy's and was very active therefore I've spent a lot of time with Matt Maher. No doubt he is a very talented musician but even better he is a humble man of God.

I remember during my last LifeTeen retreat we had to stay at this resort in the town because a last minute snow storm prevented us from going up state where our regular retreat grounds were. Anyways, I roomed with Matt Maher and two other guys, and I remember that one night the four of us stayed up all night reading through Dr. Hahn's "The Lamb's Supper" and going through the Book of Revelation at the same time, Matt Maher lead the reading as he just got done reading the book and had to share it with us. After that night I went and bought all of Dr. Hahn's books and I guess you could say that I was hooked on Theology from that point on.

Matt and I disagree on what is appropriate for liturgical music (or at least I think so as I have not seen him for a few years now, and God knows my opinion has changed, so his might have also) but I still love to listen to his music every once in a while outside of Mass. I especially like his songs "Sophia" and "The End and the Beginning."

I love Matt Maher's work as well. It is great for youth group stuff, well atleast that's what I mainly use it for. I play guitar and have played for a while, so while I'm running youth stuff I'll break out my guitar and play some songs, alot are Matt Maher songs since I have found that the kids love his music, well I do to so I can't just say it's because of the kids
