There is a poem that i read about a marytr named Jack Vinson, it was written by his friend E.H.Hamilton.

Afraid? Of What?
To feel the spirit's glad release?
To pass from pain to perfect peace,
The strife and strian of life to cease?
Afraid-of that?
Afraid? Of What?
Afraid to see the Savior's face
To hear His welcome, and to trace
The glory gleam from wounds of grace?
Afraid-of that?
Afraid? Of What?
A flash, a crash, a pierced heart;
Darkness, light, O Heaven's art!
A wound of His a counterpart!
Afraid-of that?
Afraid? Of What?
To do by death what life could not-
Baptize with blood a stony plot,
Till souls shall blossom from the spot?
Afraid-of that?

"Because I preach this Good News, I am suffering and have been chained like a criminal. But the word of God cannot ve chained.
I am willing to endure anything if it will bring salvation and eternal glory in Christ Jesus to those God has chosen."

~Paul the Apostle

God let this be my prayer. And to those of you who read this, please pray for the marytrs, and those who are being persecuted for their faith, that they may have the strength to endure it to the end. And pleas do not be angry, or seek earthly justice for those doing the persecuting; but instead pray for their salvation and redemption for their souls for they need it.

And God if you call us to be marytrs for your word, give us the strength to endure it and not to forsake you like you have not forsaken us. Thank you.

i hope i am never called to be a maryter. i am so afraid i would give in to torture and deny Christ.
hmm just noticed that the word maryter has the name Mary in it. i wonder if there is some connection to the Virgin Mary and Mary of Bethany who poured out he perfume on Jesus feet.

Martyr
one who bears witness of the truth, and suffers death in the cause of Christ (Ac 22:20; Re 2:13; 17:6). In this sense Stephen was the first martyr. The Greek word so rendered in all other cases is translated "witness." (1.) In a court of justice (Mt 18:16; 26:65; Ac 6:13; 7:58; Heb 10:28; 1Ti 5:19). (2.) As of one bearing testimony to the truth of what he has seen or known (Lu 24:48; Ac 1:8,22; Ro 1:9; 1Th 2:5,10; 1Jo 1:2).

What makes me very sad is that someone right now as you read this is dying for their faith in Christ, somewhere around the world. In America we have no worries about this, and what's worse about that is millions of people in this country simply skip church and avoid Christ by choice. They have no clue either. It blows my mind when I read about Christians in some far away land getting tortured for their faith in Christ. And meanwhile we have these moronic idiots out in California putting trash on our TV and movie screens, and the general public just shrugs their shoulders and continues on avoiding Christ and thinking they have no worries.

I can only hope and pray that I get the challenge of professing my faith in the face of death, and that I honor God with my boldness of faith through Christ Jesus.

But until that day comes I weep for this proud nation of heathens and atheists. The god of self-worship is alive and well in the good 'ol US of A.

I am close personal friends with a man who was martyred. After spending 20 years in Kenya serving the Kenyan people the Kenyan Govt. put a price on his head because he was preparing to take the Kenyan Govt. to trial for crimes against humanity. The Kenyan govt. had incited tribal warfare among two Kenyan tribes and it resulted in large amounts of loss of human life. The Kenya Govt. murdered my friend, but in the end he is in Heaven with Christ and the Kenyan people have a modern day hero to whom they look up.
