• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Being pot is illegal except for medical reasons, I would say caution.
As with anything that changes the neurons of the brain is considered Getting Drunk.
Ephesians 5:18
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.

Pot can be addictive just as much as anything we put into our bodies. It used to be said pot is not harmful, but studies have shown it is very damaging to the brain and organs.

Excellent response. Doing anything illegal should be avoided as much possible. No where in the Bible does it state that it is ok to break the laws of the country.

Apart from that smoking pot can cause a lot of damage to people. As with any drug you don't know how your body is going to react and what maybe ok one day for you may not be another. I have had many friends in the past that swore smoking was the best thing ever and they were hooked - not so much to the drug but to the high. Also many people who use harder drugs used pot as the stepping stone as they were addicted to getting high and didn't care how they got there.

The main question I want to ask you is why do you feel the need to get high?

i don't know because if you use that logic, slavery was the law in the 1800's, what if you went against it will it be a sin. because it was the law

Well that is true however that is not what I was implying. Laws such as those regarding slavery as well as the forced removal of children in Australia were wrong as they broke the commandments of the Bible (do to others as you would have do unto you, love your neighbour as yourself etc). Laws that defy the Word of God are different to those which do not.
But both you and I know that was clearly not the point I was trying to make. I was merely referiring to many laws which are designed to protect people from harm or to help society (wearing a seat belt, not doing drugs, driving within a speed limit, not murdering others, paying taxes etc).

BTW at the time of slavery many drugs were also legal to be used. In current times neither slavery or illicit drugs are acceptable.

Blessings

Is marijuana a sin to smoke

it depends why your using it, and whether its getting in the way of your walk with Christ that said we ALL have addictions and do harmful things to ourselves and I think sometimes marijuana is over demonized Alcohol is FAR more dangerous and yet is perfectly legal
