Considering its the Joker asking, it might be just him.

The guy probably was mad on a sugar high from eating a "blizzard" full of reeses cups and oreos.

But as this keeps going, as cities go back into lockdown in some cases, as employers force vaccination on people, as worship is once again banned in some places, and as the media keeps saying or promising one thing then walking it back a week later, we’re going to see more frustrated, angry, fed-up people like this guy, hopefully not taking it out on some innocent Dairy Queen workers, but still.

Anyone who is frustrated needs to direct that at the people causing the spread of the virus. Period. Why would you be frustrated at the people actively trying to stop the spread of the virus that is killing people at an alarming rate?

Not everyone. Some are wearing masks because of mandates from governors or other officials. Some wear masks because the business requires it.

And still others wear the mask as an act of doing the right thing - recognizing that my actions can affect others, and acting accordingly. We should not need the government to require us to take the responsible course of action in a pandemic...

This is obviously a ridiculous response.

People are getting fed up though. I believe it was a year and a half ago we were told two weeks to flatten the curve. Then 6 months or so later we had a vaccine. Now we are finding neither or them are as effective as we were told.

Government and others are making it sound like it's the end. But we have quite a bit less than 1% mortality rate. Yet we act like everyone around us is going to die if we don't mask up and vaccinate. By the way, masking up and vaccinating isn't a guarantee either.

Oh, there's herd immunity. Except now we have the varients that put an end to that.

People.are frustrated. Frustrated with demands, the mandates, the shut downs and the lies. It builds and comes out (no pun intended) in a myriad of ways. Some extrely unpleasant like this one. It's quite stupid. But when dealing with people, you are going to get stupid now and then.

This thing is not over by a long shot. We will be dealing with this for years.

All of you people who keep posting "This is crazy, buuuuut..." are enabling this sort of response, whether you intend to or not. We're all dealing with the stresses of living during a major worldwide pandemic, and how many of us are flipping out and peeing on counters or otherwise assaulting or threatening staff at whatever establishments we happen to patronize? I haven't done anything like that, nor seen anything like that done around me, and I live in what could fairly be called the epicenter of the anti-mask demonstrations (since it's a capital city, they all come here).

Again, historical pandemics in the not-so-distant past have lasted as long as this or longer. There's no shortcut around any of this, and the reading back into the record expectations about flattening the curve as though they were ever about stopping infection in its tracks (such that it's a 'failure' that the virus was still transmitted even during this time, or since) -- rather than what the flattening of the curve really shows, namely, a slowing of the infection rate -- is just reading unrealistic thinking into quite modest and reachable goals. From a WHO report given on the Covid situation in Thailand in March of 2020, we get this handy definition of what "flattening the curve" actually means (emphasis added):


It is probably good to recall here that the initial worry in fighting covid (that is now with us in the USA again as the Delta variant spreads all over the country) was that the rate of serious infection requiring hospitalization would accelerate and/or remain at a level such that hospitals in particularly hard-hit countries or areas (e.g., Italy, Los Angeles County in the USA, etc.) would collapse under the weight of so many critical cases. We already see signs of this occurring even in states that are not as populated and haven't really been known as Covid hotspots, such as Oregon, where patients have had to be sent to hospitals in Boise and Reno for lack of beds remaining in their state.

I just mean that the ultimate reason for those mandates and business requirements is the pandemic. Nothing else.

We are not enabling. Just pointing out the obvious. Some people are just not able to control themselves in these situations. Emotions build and they explode. When dealing with human beings we should not be surprised that some crack under pressure. I bet this guy wouldn't have done this if not for the Covid measures. I dunno, maybe he's mentally ill?

We all know what flattening the curve was for. The problem is with this disease all the measures taken haven't worked We see upticks everywhere, even places with heavy restrictions and mandates. It's time to recognize this thing comes in waves and we just have to ride it out.

Get a vaccination and go in about your business. Know that the vaccination will help, but it's no guarantee. But we can't shut down society. This thing is not that deadly overall.

Get vaccinated. I've heard vaccination is up after the FDA approval. That is good.
