And here we go.
Let me clarify:
By 'another', I mean a 'different' Genus/species, as I elaborated with my example.
In those examples you gave, the first thing I looked for was their Genus, to see if they were the same.
In the examples you gave where they were not the same Genus, the offspring was sterile.
Please try again, thank you.
I'm not quite ready to jettison my believe that macroevolution can take a hike just yet; but if -- if -- I ever do, I'll never retcon it.
All I see is macroevolution in a controlled setting; and if a Genus is just an arbitrary term in the first place, then I would assume it is not worth my time even discussing it.
I still believe that God has set boundaries that evolution cannot cross; but if it is indeed being crossed in laboratories, then the time is ripe for the Antichrist.
You were equivocating between genus and species. macroevolution is generally understood as formation of new species, but when examples were given you said "ah but thats not a new genus is it?"In my days, the answer would be, 'no.'
Are a Cocker Spaniel and a Dalmatian an example of macroevolution?
I don't even know what you meant by this.
It's a pretty common term in palaeontology and evo-devo. Sorry I don't have bazillions of my own publications to pick from, but here's someone else's that I read recently:
At the bottom.Where is the line between micro and macro evolution?
I've asked this like 5 times. Why is this so hard to answer?
At the bottom.
Thank you! Finally! So you accept common ancestry all the way down to single celled organisms. That took long enough...
Now it's just a matter of accepting abiogenesis and then you'll be officially un-indoctrinated!
Welcome to freedom, my friend! Today is the first day of you new life of critical thinking and rational explanations which will unlock the wonders of the universe for you!
Oh c'mon, you walked right into that one
5.1.1.1 Evening Primrose (Oenothera gigas)
( Observed Instances of Speciation )
Edit: If you want some that's not using hybrids:
5.2.1 Stephanomeira malheurensis
5.2.2 Maize (Zea mays)
5.2.3 Speciation as a Result of Selection for Tolerance to a Toxin: Yellow Monkey Flower (Mimulus guttatus)
Speciation is a fundamental issue in evolutionary biology, but it is both fascinating and frustrating: we know it does happen but it its an historical phenomenon so it is difficult to observe. The two camps of evolutionary biologists best equipped to deal with speciation (in terms of mechanism, population geneticists; in terms of time-frames, paleontologists) are both incapable of "seeing" speciation except in very special situations. We must rely on strong inference to properly understand speciation.
speciation is a guess
And I just might feel honouredOne more word from you, and I just might issue a Friend's Request!
Good question. I think every creationist should try to answer it - it might make them think about their beliefs if nothing else.If you DO accept that they had a common ancestor, I will then ask you "did the common ancestor of lions and tigers have a common ancestor with other felines? Did those ancestors have common ancestors with other vertebrates? and so on and so on...
How far back are you willing to accept common ancestry?
AronRa rocks.Khaos, thanks for the videos! Those were great!
Very well, you were warned --And I just might feel honoured
Appreciation from the opposite side is more precious than the approval of your ownVery well, you were warned --
