No, I'm not in over my head. I fully understand all of the arguments I have responded to. I think I'm just arguing a different point than you guys. All I'm saying is that to the typical end user, and to myself to a degree, it does not matter where the security comes from as long as it's there.I say this with a straight face. No insult intended.
You're way over your head in this discussion.
I suggest doing some reading on basic security concepts. There's tons of good info out there for the picking.
I'm 17. I'm not going to have any formal educational or work experience in an IT field. All of my knowledge has been gathered via internet forums and articles in conjunction with my own experience in working with and building my own, and other's, computers.Yes, it matters.
First tell me your background in computers so I can tailor my answer for you.
Perspective is important.
Here's mine. Been working in IT in some form or the other for about 10 years now. I've been a PC repair tech and a tech support jockey of one stripe or another for a while. I'm no security expert by far, but I do try to keep up here and there.
I've been running a PowerBook G4 for about four years now. WalksWithLimp is my Mac mentor in fact!
Sounds like you're ahead of the curve for your age. Or maybe not considering how advanced teens are these days! lolNo, I'm not in over my head. I fully understand that Windows could, and probably should, be doing more to bolster its security. I understand that being forced to run third party security software indicates a security flaw in the OS. I'm not disputing any of that. All I'm saying is that the same level of security can easily be achieved on a Mac and a PC.

I have been fixing my friends and family's computers for the past four years if that helps.
As in no longer working the way it was suppose to which caused a force reboot which meant more money out of my wallet and wasting my time, which is why I no longer work in any studio that runs on Macs.Complete system shutdowns? What are you saying? Your Mac simply turned off?
I'm believing your stories less and less.
I think it's awesome how you draw people into a debate, and then, when you cannot refute their points, you withdraw, leaving only a dismissal.Obviously not. It's a good thing you live in your private world where other people don't exist and therefore their opinions don't matter to you. Good luck with that.
Mate, if there is one thing I've learned from years of being on forums, it's that arguing about this stuff on here is pointless. Tech and Religious debates are more than slightly pointless because everyone has their own opinion and everyone is too stubborn to to budge on them.Obviously not. Hum. If you believed all that, this discussion would have ended a while back......Mate, if there is one thing I've learned from years of being on forums, it's that arguing about this stuff on here is pointless. In any event, why should I really care if you believe what I say or not? I find that amusing since I've got nothing to prove to you or anyone else. I'm just stating my experiences. I have no reason to prove I'm the bigger man to a bunch of people from an internet forum I will never meet and likely forget about once I click the little X at the top right.
He actually has done a fair bit of very *specific* refutation here.I think it's awesome how you draw people into a debate, and then, when you cannot refute their points, you withdraw, leaving only a dismissal.
And just by the way, even if TerraSin doesn't care what you think, there are others who could benefit from a refutation of his points on your part.
Now what would be the fun in that? lolHum. If you believed all that, this discussion would have ended a while back......
