Mac Virus? Let's Settle This Thing!

Ok. Here it is! The official place to post links to Mac virii (also known as "viruses!" hey, a group of cactus is known as cacti...lol).
Proof of concept, rumors, etc need not post! I'm looking for "real" viruses (heh heh) that have actually hit a Mac and had some sort of effect. "In the wild" is what we're aiming for here.

Ok there all alot of places to get them! But im not sure if anyone is going to help you. Maybe you should learn how to make your own.

No one has succeded at what making there own virius? I have made my own. Its really not that hard?

I'm talking about virii, not hacking attempts. Different animal...but not totally unrelated!
I've seen many articles like that.

Well, at least the tree exists, which is more than I can say for a real Mac or Linux virus.
Oh wait, but "no one uses Mac or Linux so there is no point of makin a virus!" riiiight...

What I'd like is just some actual accounts of people running Macs experiencing any type of virus infection. Even a news report of same would suffice!

been running a mac for a few years now and never had any sort of virus, spyware, etc all that crap you get on windoze.
apples software updater keeps check of it all too

Ok, let's break these down. The second two links aren't even about virii so those aren't relevant.

The first one has a total of four entries on the home page spanning the last three years. The first is a *Windows* virus that can hit users with Bootcamp and an iPod. The second listing has zero information about the virus. The third must be deliberately executed by the user. That one does count in my view. And the fouth talks about a vulnerability in the security of Widgets...not a virus unless I'm reading it wrong.

So that makes ONE pretty toothless virus! Compared to thousands upon thousands of Winders virii.

Hm, well, you probably already know this, but:

It would be pretty hard for a virus to wreak havoc on a Mac unless there were a particularly stupid user behind the keyboard, right? IIRC, OS X is similar to Linux in that root or superuser is kept completely separate from the normal user account. Unlike Windows, in which most people (including myself, I'll admit) run everything with administrator privileges, root is only invoked in special cases and requires a password. Unless a person ignores all warnings and logs in a root, there is very little a virus can do when it comes into a user account.

Do I have that about right?

Not to sound too haughty (go figure!), but remember this fact:

There Are No OS X Viruses. None.

Every time a security/antivirus company points one out, it is always a failed prrof-of-concept item, and never something in the wild. Some examples require a user to do something, which does not fit the definition of a virus.

It is not security through obscurity. It's security through design.
