hey all new here loving it and feeling Gods blessing flowing from thread to thread, it's an amazing use of the internet.

anyway, why i started this account is i want to know who has done the longest fast in all 6k years us humans have been here?

i want to take a shot at it for God and have allready completed a 12hr ''test fast'' which was quite successfull besides the pb & j HALF sandwich at lunchtime.

so how long has somebody fasted and am i allowed to drink say juiced vegies, fruits for my record attempt to be ''legit'', i will go only water if need be, i am starting my fast within the next 12hr's so all advice is apreciated.

Unadorned, basic fasting is water based, 24 hr days.

Full effects don't usually begin until after 72 hours.

Remember hearing about hunger strikers in prison dying after around 54 or 56 days without food.

Someone with a lot of fat could likely go longer.

Thinking the longest fast in The Bible is 40 days, endured by Moses, Elijah, and Jesus.

40 days is supposed to be about the most - a normal, healthy body can endure without suffering irreparable damage...but don't suggest going for 40 as a newbie to the process.

Have currently built up to 30, over more than a few years.

Mercy, Grace, & Peace in Christ.

So, does that mean that detox begins full on around this time? about how much longer would the average "dirty" person need to go to get a decent detox?

When the body ceases to draw nutrition from it's digestive system, it switches over to autocannibalism, where one's macrophages (big eaters in Latin) scour the body in an effort to nourish the blood (physical life is in the blood), they - the macrophages devour fat mostly, and since fat is where most toxins are stored, that when the "deep cleansing begins", it's kind of like changing the oil in one's 4 cycle combustion engine - considered to be one of the main/routine things necessary for long engine life.

We have macrophages all the time...but when there's no food to digest, they increase dramatically in number and voracity.

They can/will even eat things like, cholesterol/calcium deposits, plaque, tumors, cysts, blood clots, bacterial infections, micro organisms...but they don't usually get into high gear until about 72 hours without caloric/protein intake.

And they may take days or weeks to clear out major things.

Yet, if one has a lot of toxins it can be dangerous to have them purged all at once, possibly overloading the liver/kidneys/the body's filtering/waste processing organs, which in rare and extreme cases could cause death.

If one had a really lot of toxins, they may need to do some prep type cleanses for a while before fasting...haven't studied, or experimented with these much, but something along the lines of what's called a juice fast, or herbal tea fast, (there are some fasting tea blend of herbs), sounds reasonable.

It's usually best to use organic products too, if one can grow/harvest them, or afford them.

A 3 day fast would likely be something like a 10% cleanse, one week - 20%, two week 40%, and so on...but this will vary a little too, with the individual...but is based on the concept that 40 days is roughly the 100% mark.

One could combine something too, like a 3 day fast every 60 days or something...but the most stubborn of gunk likely needs the longer steady barrage of macrophages, had during an extended fast, to fully purge.

Good education is key to understanding...and good, doesn't necessarily mean formal.

And remember the great potential of prayer, especially when fasting !

Peace, Love, & Joy in Jesus !

wow thats some long fasting wayfaring man, maybe i'm being a little ambitious, thanks.

You're Welcome in The Lord !

It's kind of ironic that I appear strong for going that long...but it has been my weaknesses that have mainly led me to fast, being overwhelmed enough by things in this life, that I was willing to "lay my life down before The Lord", in a somewhat extreme manner, accepting even the concept that I could die (even though the odds were pretty good I wouldn't)...but believing that if I did, I died seeking The Lord the best I knew how !

You can read some about that last/30 day fast here --> http://www.christianforums.com/t7497541/

May The Lord Be Pleased to Bless and Keep !
