Just a small point as an aside, its interesting to what the policitians posturing and saying that they've "doubled counter-terrorism measures", while a bunch of black clad, gas mask wearing SAS men abseil from helicopters in the background.

Turns out the London bombers were British Moslems, at least one of whom spent 6 months last year in Afganistan and Pakistan...

The way to stop it from happening is better intelligence

Intelligence forces should co-operate and monitor activity of those fanatics who've been to Afghanistan. You track them down and you may prevent further acts of terror.

Fair enough, but don't forget that at one time, many of the fighters who trained in these camps were the same that fought against the Soviets, (as part of the U.S. Cold War against Communism) and were funded by, and received training and logistical support from, the CIA.

I simply do not believe these terrorist acts to be self inflicted. I think articles which suggest they are are missible. There will always be alternative theorists - this is nothing new - I'm just not interested - I am interested in catching the real perpetrators - in this case the British Moslem Terrorists, who lived in our country, enjoyed the benefits of being a Briton, who then decided to train in terrorism in Afganistan and then bomb their fellow citizens - well, as they were suicide bombers we can't catch them, but there are plenty of others...

What a quibble. "I simply do not believe.", "I'm just not interested". If Northwoods plan was carried out, there would have been same "perpetrators" been found. Most likely they would have been dead in operation and couldn't speak out the truth. That's how a case framed.

If you believe half of what they publish, then Al Qaeda et al want to bring the West to its knees, wipe it out, clean up Allah's Earth of the infidel, whatever. Modernity had to deal with Hitler and Stalin, tens of millions of heads rolled when those bad asses went nutz, the entire world went to war.

With these jackasses, the entire world is ...bored, and slightly annoyed. It's like, 'well, they're not much when it comes to nuts, but dammit, they're our nuts.'

So, we run a kind of 'Special Terror Olympics' for our special little nuts, and give them all perfect '10's when they ...master the incredibly complex modern marvel of reading the clock.

Well, OK, that's why I say it's time for a Telethon. Clearly, this is a culture that needs some drastic help, a little guidance, because fact is, we're more afraid of the Chinese for what they can accomplish than we are of these radical Muslims for what they can manage to destroy. And, that's their fundamentalist problem; any idiot can kill/destroy, and apparently, any idiots are. If they really wanted to shake up the West, then they would have to get their act together and actually build something/create something.

Hell, they've got the Oil.

But, that also takes skill, talent, character, and brains.

So, the proper response to these pathetic little acts of destruction, IMO, is our pity. Contempt would be wasted; would you show contempt to Special Olympians because they failed to come within miles of the World Record? No, it would be unseemly.
