I was just wondering how many people on the boards collect live shows by their favorite bands. I know Axver has a ton of U2 shows, and I'm sure with all the DMB and Phish fans on the board do too. Also, I you do collect live shows where do you find them. I know some bands release cds with whole shows on them, DMB/Phish/Pearl Jam, but so many bands don't. I have about 20 Saves The Day shows and near 50 Smashing Pumpkins shows, but they were a pain to track down. So I guess I'm asking what bands live shows do you collect and where do you get them?

As KenobiKid said, I collect U2 shows. There's a fair few sites and FTPs to download U2 gigs from, plus I trade with others via snail mail for them. I'm currently downloading the 23 June 1993, Strasbourg concert DVD via bit torrent right now. U2 doesn't officially allow taping, have tapers' areas, or release each show, but they've said unofficially they invite tapers and don't mind bootlegging.

I have probably 15 Phish shows on CD, from the "Live Phish" series, and also the amazing CD (which got me hooked on them) "A Live One", and I've also downloaded about 5 bootlegs off of Kazaa. They also sell their shows online, I've downloaded 4 from them. So that makes around 25ish Phish shows. Each show is about 3 CDs worth of music. Except the New Years show that I went to, thats 4

That's essentially it. I had to have a website explain it to me, heh. Just send me the blanks and return postage, I burn the shows you want, and then drop them in the post back to you. That's how I got my first few shows. If you want to do that, drop me a line and I could do it for you after my exams, during the later half of June.

Cheers champ! I'll keep them in mind. Hopefully by then we'll have broadband in the house so dialup will be ancient history.

Kristian, broadband is extremely good for your health! I've got three U2 DVDs that way. Just say the word and I'll do a B&P for you, sometimes the old ways prove to be more reliable than downloading (I've downloaded some real **** before or had downloads die on me).

Absolutely_lost, I currently get all my U2 gigs by downloading them via bit torrent or doing postal trades. I used to also download MP3s but I don't go for those any more, I get the high quality SHN and WAV stuff. If you want links to either SHN or MP3, just say and I can post some.

I know that too well. The computers at uni are a breeze compared to what I have to put up with at home! SOTF sent me a song a couple of nights while we were chatting on MSN and it took near on half an hour for a 6MB song. Not many kB per sec, let me tell ya. The word will come very soon, let me assure you.

Gah, I remember the agony of dialup! I sat up a whole night downloading the live Joshua Tree on www.u2theendoftheworld.co.uk when I had dialup. Those were the days when I bribed friends into downloading U2 for me ... couldn't get much, though. I missed some really good concerts on the former Womanfish MB that way ...

I would also like to express my supreme JOY AND DELIGHT! at the fact www.u2theendoftheworld.co.uk FINALLY has Achtung Baby live up! WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! I know that doesn't fit into the context of the thread, but hey, I've been waiting for this since November last year! I don't normally download MP3s but I think I'll be making an exception here.

Edit: Grr, not worth the wait for me. Besides the performance of UTEOTW, I have them all. Well, I'm not sure about So Cruel, but I'm guessing it's from the Hershey soundchecks without even downloading it. Sigh. The rest of you lot can enjoy it though.

Jimmy Buffett broadcasts all of his shows (including the backstage stuff) live every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights on RadioMargaritaville so his shows are really easy to get.

I have a couple of them.
