I've listened to it many times over, and my best guess is that it's about someone who has failed in life, being called back to God, or to their mission in life -they say "come again".
...But one never really knows. Or it eventually dawns on one, and they're like 'of course'!
click the link at the top. It has all their songs.No less interesting. The poetry involved, seems hidden in what could be interpreted in two vastly opposite ways. I didn't see that coming, but I'm not offended. It does suggest that "10 years later" all his dreams are gone - so the two related, yet opposite scenarios (the good and the bad) are linked brilliantly by Robert Hunter at the Mission.
