Why don't you start with this passage Smac and see where The Holy spirit leads you.

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.Galatians 5

Can someone be so kind as to write a list for me of all the things I should not be doing as a Christian

There are many denominations that have lists of rules to follow.

I held a weekly Bible study years ago. At one meeting a woman asked if God wanted her to quit smoking. I told her that she should love God with all her heart, soul, and strength. Then God would lead her to what He wanted her to do.

It is very tempting to want to have a list of things. This is the trap the Pharisees fell into.

Dear smachen. Jesus made it easy for us to know what is sin, and what is
not sin. In Matthew 22, Jesus tells a Lawyer: The first and great Commandment is:" Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all
thy mind." Everything we say or do, must be under the Umbrella of Love, if it is not, it is Sin. Love covers a multitude of all things great and worthy. Think or do anything which is without love, it is Sin. The second Commandment is:
" Love thy neighbour as thou loves thyself." Treat thy neighbour as thou would
love to be treated. Everything different or without love, is Sin.
Impossible to do or keep, you might say. But God made it possible. To start with: Jesus will give us his Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give us His Love, also. " Ask and ye will receive," then thank God and share all Love and Joy with our neighbour." ( Matthew 7, verses 7-8) We might stumble or forget,
but then we ask God to forgive us, and carry on asking, loving and caring, asking, loving and caring. God will see our sincere efforts, and God will approve and bless us.
And God will know that we Love God, because we are following God`s Commandments to Love and care.
God wants our Love freely given and no conditions tagged on. And all without love or compassion, is Sin. Jesus also told us: " On those two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." To Love and Obey, there
is no other way. We also have years to become better and better, and Love is very catching. Love will change us into the children/sons and daughters, which
God wants to live eternity with. Everything we say or do, or advocate or stand for, must be from Love, selfless and no conditions tagged on.
I say this with love, smachen. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Someone once said: "If you spend your time doing the do's, you won't have time to do the don'ts."

If you stay focused on God and keep praising Him, being thankful of Him, acknowledging His presence (a tall order and it requires diligence), walking with Him in prayer, His own holiness will cause you to reject things that are not of Him.

Read the Word of God and try to align yourself with it as much as you can. Just rest in Him and though you want to seek the kingdom, don't become "work" minded. Your burden is light and your work is from the rest of faith.

Thank you, God bless.

A list of rules you should not be doing...because God has forgiven you and you want to live your life as a Little Christ or do you feel that those things will gain you some brownie points with God (which they won't).

Look through the 10 commandments as a guide for your life. You won't be able to live them perfectly though...which is why we are all in need of a Savior. Thankfully one was given to us.

How about "do good and avoid evil"; I'm sure that you're able to tell the difference.

Don't be mean to Jesus.
Don't be mean to people.

The Word is the instruction manual for righteousness. Just start reading the New Testament and endeavor to follow what it asks. If you're not sure, just ask the Holy Spirit to clarify. He'll probably lead you to a teaching and you'll get understanding. If you're really searching, when understanding comes, it won't be subtle, if will be freeing.

If you look at doing the Words of Jesus as loving Jesus, and walking in love as your primary motivation, a lot of scripture will be easier to understand. It is written for Sons who give their lives as servants.

I would encourage you to get some Bible software (there's free stuff out there), and do a search and collect some verses that cover these things. You can research where God is on a matter and educate yourself. You can get edified with your time spent in the Word. I do this often, and it's a good idea to let the Holy Spirit impart some understanding on any subject you are interested in researching.

Nooooooo please NO ONE post ANY list lol! Don't worry about sin, just know you are forgiven, period! Sin is the devil himself so why bother thinking about him and the more you are sin conscious, the more YOU will sin! You are forgiven so why bother thinking about it, focus on Jesus! Trust me you are going to do things you shouldn't but if your focus is on God then you will become more like Him. People in the old testament where always sinning and God kept blessing them because their focus was on Him, but only when the law came, then people knew what sin was and what happened? They sinned WAY more and lost focus on God and more about the sins they shouldn't commit, which led to them being a lot worse than they where before the law. The law is holy and was ONLY brought so we can realize how much we needed a savior not for us to memorize and focus on it. If you still really want to know then google the 10 commandments, but honestly God says just do things. Love God and love others including those that hate you.

Remember sin = devil, so why bother filling your mind with him. Just know you will sin, but God has already taking care of that so enjoy God's grace, blessings, and love then your character will become more like Him day by day as long as you aren't sin conscious.

Scripture is there for us to learn from.

I've done things that I didn't know was against Yahweh such as going to a fortune teller. If I had known it was in Scripture not to, I wouldn't have. Another one - I thought my thoughts were my business and didn't know Scripture tells us what to think about. Anyway, a list of sins -

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." I John 2:16

A list defining the lust of the flesh is located at Gal 5 v 19 - 21. There's too many Scriptures to list from doing a search using "flesh," "pride," and "lust." and that won't be a comprehensive list.

But v 5 " For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith." Our goal is v. 25 "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

An ancient Christian list, which draws from the Jewish Scriptures and the Gospels:

The guys who wrote it were probably Jewish converts trying to figure things out, so give them some slack.

The Lord's Teaching through the Twelve Apostles to the Gentiles

1 There are two Ways, one of Life and one of Death, and there is a great difference between the two Ways.

Truly, the Way of Life is this: First, you shall love the God who made you, second, your neighbour as yourself. And whatever you would not have done to you, do not to another. Now of these words, the Teaching is this: Bless those that curse you, and pray for your enemies, and fast for those that persecute you. For what credit is it to you if you love those that love you? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? But love those that hate you, and you will have no enemy. Abstain from carnal and worldly lusts. If any man smites you on the right cheek, turn to him the other cheek also, and you shall be perfect. If any man presses you to go with him one mile, go with him two. If any man takes your cloak, give him your shirt also. If any man takes from you what is yours, ask not for it again, for you are not even able.

Give to everyone that asks you, and ask not again, for the Father's will is that we give to all from the gifts we have received. Blessed is he that gives according to the commandment, for he is innocent. Woe to him who receives, for if any man receive alms under pressure of need he is innocent, but he who receives without need shall be tried as to why he took and for what, and being in prison he shall be examined concerning his deeds, and he shall not come out from there until he pays the last farthing. But concerning this it was also said: Let your alms sweat into your hands until you know to whom you are giving.

2 The second commandment of the Teaching is this: You shall do no murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit pederasty, you shall not commit fornication, you shall not steal, you shall not use magic, you shall not use sorcerer’s potions, you shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill it when it is born, you shall not covet your neighbour’s goods, you shall not commit perjury, you shall not bear false witness, you shall not speak evil, you shall not bear malice. You shall not be double-minded nor double-tongued, for to be double-tongued is the snare of death. Your speech shall not be false or empty, but completed in action. You shall not be covetous nor extortionate, nor a hypocrite, nor malicious, nor proud. You shall make no evil plan against your neighbour. You shall hate no man, but some you shall reprove, and for some shall you pray, and some you shall love more than your own life.

3 My child, flee from every evil man and from all like him. Be not proud, for pride leads to murder, nor jealous, nor contentious, nor passionate, for from all these murders are engendered. My child, be not lustful, for lust leads to fornication, nor a speaker of base words, nor a lifter up of the eyes, for from all these is adultery engendered. My child, regard not omens, for this leads to idolatry, neither be a diviner, nor an astrologer, nor a sorcerer, neither wish to see these things, for from them all is idolatry engendered.

My child, be not a liar, for lying leads to theft, nor a lover of money, nor vain-glorious, for from all these things are thefts engendered. My child, be not a grumbler, for this leads to blasphemy, nor stubborn, nor a thinker of evil, for from all these are blasphemies engendered, but be you meek, for the meek shall inherit the earth. Be you long-suffering, and merciful and guileless, and quiet, and good, and ever-fearing the words which you have heard. You shall not exalt yourself, nor let your soul be presumptuous. Your soul shall not consort with the lofty, but you shall walk with righteous and humble men. Receive whatever befalls you as good, knowing that nothing happens without God.

4 My child, you shall remember, day and night, him who speaks the word of God to you, and you shall honour him as the Lord, for where the Lord's teaching is spoken of, there is the Lord present. And you shall seek daily the presence of the Saints, that you may find rest in their words. You shall not desire schism, but shall reconcile those that contend. You shall give righteous judgment, you shall favour no man's person in reproving transgression.

You shall not be of two minds whether a thing shall be or not. Be not one who stretches out his hands to receive, but shuts them when it comes to giving. Of whatever you have gained, by your hands you shall give a ransom for your sins. You shall not hesitate to give, nor shall you grumble when you give, for you shall know who is the good Repayer of wages. You shall not turn away the needy, but shall share everything with your brother, and shall not say that it is your own, for if you are partakers in the imperishable, how much more in the things which perish?

You shall not withhold your guiding hand from your son or from your daughter, but you shall teach them the fear of God from their youth up. You shall not command in your bitterness your slave or your handmaid, who hope in the same God, lest they cease to fear the God who is over you both, for He comes not to call men with respect of persons, but those whom the Spirit has prepared. But do you who are slaves be subject to your masters, as to figures after God’s prototype, in reverence and fear. You shall hate all hypocrisy, and everything that is not pleasing to the Lord. You shall not forsake the commandments of the Lord, but you shall keep what you received, adding nothing to it and taking nothing away. In the church you shall confess your transgressions, and you shall not offer up your prayer with an evil conscience. This is the Way of Life.

5 But the Way of Death is this: First, it is wicked and accursed, full of murders, adulteries, lusts, fornications, thefts, idolatries, magic, sorcery, robberies, false witness, hypocrisies, a double heart, fraud, pride, malice, stubbornness, covetousness, foul speech, jealousy, impudence, haughtiness, boastfulness. Persecutors of the good, haters of truth, lovers of lies, knowing not the reward of righteousness, not cleaving to the good nor to righteous judgment, spending wakeful nights not for good but for wickedness, from whom meekness and patience is far, lovers of vanity, following after reward, unmerciful to the poor, not labouring for him who is oppressed with toil, ignorant of Him who made them, murderers of children, corrupters of God's handiwork, turning away the needy, oppressing the distressed, advocates of the rich, unjust judges of the poor, all-sinful. May you be delivered, my children, from all these.

6 See that no man makes you err from this Way of the Teaching, for they teach you without God. For if you can bear the whole yoke of the Lord, you will be perfect, but if you cannot, do what you can.

smachen I believe that if you love God you will be guided by the Holy Spirit on the things you need to work on changing/removing/destroying etc. in your life. If you want to seek out if you are sinning, look to the ten commandments and the seven deadly sins as a result of idolatry for the flesh.

I believe that some of us write such long posts that they are lost to me, I cant read all that in one go.

It's good to feed upon the Word and find out what pleases and displeases God. When we first come to the Lord, we find out a LOT displeases God. The most important thing is to praise the Lord, have a thankful heart, worship God often, meditate and speak His Word, do what you know you can do as per the Word, and you'll be renewed and not get yourself into the trouble I did. He speaks to your heart, if you do those things, you'll find yourself with his desires more than your own fleshly desires.

Here's some scriptures to consider about sin...

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”
Prov 14:12

This shows that the natural man can excuse himself of things that God does not. If we want the fruit we desire, we'll feed on the Word of God and give heed to it.

“If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.”
John 15:22

Now that we have His Word, we're accountable to give heed and do it.

“But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
Rev 21:8

“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.”
Rev 21:27

“For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.”
Eph 5:5-6

“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God.”
1 Cor 6:9-10

“Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
Romans 1:29-32

“Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.”
Romans 2:1-2

“For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
James 4:15-17

“There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.”
Deut 18:10-12

“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the Word of the LORD, He hath also rejected thee from being king.”
1 Sam 15:23

“Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.”
Lev 18:22

“He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.”
Prov 17:15

“Then said He unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.”
Luke 17:1-2

“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Gal 5:19-21

“Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which He alloweth. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.”
Romans 14:20-23

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. “
Prov 16:18

“Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him actions are weighed.”
1 Sam 2:3

“I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
Prov 8:12-13

“A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person. Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.”
Psalms 101:4-5

“And He said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”
Mark 7:19-23

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
1 John 2:15-17

“These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
Prov 6:16-19
