My advise to you is to cross reference every version. The KJV has soe mistranslations as well. The NIV has some translation errors too. I don't think that it's evil because of that though.

I do the majority of my studying with NIV and KJV. NIV because that is the particular study Bible that I have fallen in love with. KJV for cross reference and The BLue Letter Bible because it breaks down almost every verse word by word into their original language to help you find the originall wording of verses.

It a little bit complicated to navigate through at first, but once you learn the ins and outs of the site, it will become probably the most useful internet site you have ever used. It's one of my favorite Bible study tools.

Actually to get your facts straight, the KJV IS NOT the original text It is far from the original. It was signed by a King, King James V in the 16th Century I think (maybe the wrong century) but anyway...The Bible is the Word of God, and He protects it through translations, and any other thing man may try. There is nothing in the NIV that is touched by Satan, and if you think so list some examples please!
