  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Kids aren't safe in groups, from child molesters.

I watched a show about Jaycee and her kidnapper.Well he actually printed cards about keeping kids safe.Well when he seen the part when it said to keep kids in groups,He said that doesn't keep them safe,A predator just wants one kid and all they have to do is grab one of the kids in the group. So I guess that thought is just useless in keeping your kids safe,That statement bugged me.Any thoughts about this,My thought now would just not allow your kid to be without an adult.Easier said than done.I watched Jaycee's mom clinging on her daughter pink Teddy bear in the show,Not knowing what happen to her daughter or what her daughter was going through or if her daughter was still alive,That part was heart breaking.I couldn't imagine anyone having to ever go through.

I'm sure it helps.....less witnesses. Witnesses=getting caught. In Missouri, Shawn Hornbeck was kidnapped alone and kept for years. The kidnapper then went for a child in front of witnesses and was Id'ed and both boys were found. It just makes sense that a group is a harder target.

That being said....I'm not robbing my kids of a life because of the odd chance of abduction. I'll talk normal precautions but the thought of having an adult guard them at all times is beyond comprehension for me. My son is 6 and he plays out in front and back by himself. My 12 yo walks to her friends house before 7 am so they can catch the bus together. All 3 of my kids randomly walk to a friends in our neighborhood. My oldest is in 7th grade and has walked to the mall with friends even. She's walked to the local high school for football games. I just can't imagine not letting them have a real life with friends and freedoms. I guess I'm no hover mother, lol.

now a days a lot of the abductions and "molestations" are coming from friends of the family or even other family members. not all.. when we lived in town i would let my kids walk to friends houses withen limits, if they went any further there were major consequences, i would even set the timer on their watches about 10 mins ahead so they would know it was time to head home.. you cant rob your child from being able to be a child .. you often have to let them go and hope for the best,
