I have heard that Baptists love a good fellowship meal and are always having them. So how true is that? Does your church always have a fellowship meal on Sundays, or is it more of an once a month thing? So how often do you have fellowship meals during an average month?

Side Question: What is most often served at the fellowship meals?

its tough to give a per average. some months we may have two or three, and then we may go a couple months again before having another one heh

and of course we always have turkey(or sometimes chicken) and potatoes
unless its a dessert night

once a month sounds good, unless you count "baptist men's prayer breakfast" then its once every saturday, not including any woman functions.

I voted for once a month. It isn't set in stone that we have one once a month, but I would say that is about the average. That doesn't include a monthly breakfast for our Sunday bible study group.

I'd say that once or twice a year we have a meal after Sunday morning church. Once a month, we have a Men's prayer breakfast on Sunday morning before church. We have a special meal other days of the week a few times a year. I wouldn't say it is often that we do this. In the church that I grew up in (Pentecostal Holiness), we had one every Sunday afternoon.

Doug you need to go to a Baptist church to find out!! It's a secret ritual.

Well my church has several meals a week we have meals on Monday night before visitation. We also have meals before the Wednesday service to help members who have to rush from work to church and don't have time to go home and eat.
We also have different ages/classes that get together some once a week some monthly for fellowship and food.
The teens in our church usually goes out every Sunday night after church for fellowship at one or more of the local restaurants several of the older groups do the same thing.
Food type varies the church meals are usually good southern food (that means veggies are included ) One of the main places that the teens hangout is one of the local Mexican restaurants.

Messiainics have fellowship meal after every service usually a sweet
Last week we had a chocolate cake
This week I don't know depends on whats at the market

We rarely have a meal for the entire church, but many of our small groups have fellowship meals on a weekly basis. We are trying to have quarterly fellowship meals for the entire church which includes three language congregations, English, Cantonese and Mandarin. With about 300 people, it is quite a logistical challenge. As you can see, we are a chinese Baptist church so we usually have Chinese food.

The fourth Sunday of every month following the evening service we have a meal together. A different family is in charge of the meal each month. They decide on the menu, prepare the food and serve it. A second family is in charge of the dessert. It's something different every time based on what the host families decide to serve.

When there is a fifth Sunday in the month, we have a big potluck following the morning service and we don't have an evening service that day. Fifth Sundays come around three or four times a year.

We also have a lot of meals together around major holidays...Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas. We also eat together a lot in one another's homes, but that is not the whole church together. We are a rural community, so life is lived together as one big family much of the time.

Our church has a Bible Study lunch every Tuesday, a fellowship supper every Wednesday night before the worship service and many other times throughtout the year. They serve a wide variety of meals.
