Does anybody know what journalling is and how I'd do it? I follow a Bible reading plan called LifeJournal Reading Plan which I found on YouVersion and have been following it for a few months now. I went to the website it's from only today (LifeJournal.cc) and found a link saying "Learn how to Journal", but when I click it I get an error. I'm not really sure what journaling is, so if anybody here does, please can you tell me and let me know how to do it? Whatever it is, judging by the other things on the website, it should be very helpful for my walk with Christ.

Also, there was something on the website saying that, as you read the Bible, certain passages should stand out to you... This doesn't seem to happen to me, though... does anybody know why?

Journaling takes many different forms. I used to journal a lot but sadly have not in some time. I liked to read some scripture and then pray the scriptures known as the apostolic prayers over myself and my prayer list. Then I would sit quietly before the Lord and listen. I would then write down what I heard or what was on my heart and found that flow of words would come forth that often had divine inspiration on them. I would aslo write dreams and impressions that would come to me during the day. I have found that GOING BACK AND LOOKING AT THIS WOULD OFTEN GIVE ME DIRECTION AS TO WHAT GOD WAS DOING IN MY LIFE AND WERE hE WAS DIRECTING ME. Oops hit the caps lock. Anyway there are other ways to do this but I kind of followed this path.

Thank you for your answer - I might try that.

I was just wondering when you (or anyone) think(s) the best time for reading the Bible is? I've been trying to do it in the mornings recently, as soon as I'm awake, and while it means I can concentrate on it better, I have to wake up earlier so I'm more tired and things during the day usually make me forget what I've read - it's like I do it, and then it's sort of done and other things stop me from thinking over it properly. However, if I do it when I've returned home from school, I sometimes find it hard to focus on the Word properly with events that have happened throughout the day.

Just wondering what you thought?

Oh, and how often should I journal?

EDIT: I just "journaled" for the first time and it was wonderful... I'll admit I had doubts at first; my faith isn't very strong, but truly it was amazing! Praise the Lord!

When to read the Bible is something we all have to figure out. My own Bible reading has been lax of late although I do spend a lot of time in study and thinking about books I am reading. I think you should journal as often as you can but one does not want journaling to becomne your whole life so...maybe try and write down at least a sentence or 2 after Bible reading jotting down what verse ministered to you that day and anything that may be on your heart as to why it was significant. I found that once I started a couple of paragraphs would just flow out of me. I would also write down my dreams o musings during the night. I used to get a lot of dreams from God that were actually Him teaching and revealing things to me.

I read the Bible in the morning but some people say that when they read it in the evening before bed, they remember what they've read the following day.

Do you always forget what you read or only when you read a bible passage for the first time?

By forget it's not really like I forget it as such... I just find it difficult to keep focussed on God during the day. I have decided, however, to take my journal with me tomorrow and see if, when I start losing focus, I see it, can read from it and that I can refresh myself.

That article was really useful! I tried using the SPECS method today and I'm really surprised how much I enjoyed it! I used it on Proverbs 2:6-14 in case you were wondering.
