  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you think about men cross dressing...the latest is that John Travolta does it. Now personally from what I've seen about them on tv, it makes my stomach turn.....but....when you think of it....women can dress how they like and no one takes the slightest bit of notice....so in theory...why shouldn't men be able to do the same thing.

Women can dress in very masculine looking suits, they wear trousers, in fact I've often bought mens shirts and jeans because they are cheaper. I only buy them for casual wear, but they are still from a mens shop.

What do all of you think.....

I'm not sure, but this is what I found about it in the bible
and some commentaries about it...
I personally wear jeans and shirts and shorts, but they all wore very similar clothing in bible times too...cross dressing is a bit more than just the clothes I believe

Yeah like them Scottish people and the dresses the blokes wear, whats up with that and those poor bag like animals with sticks in them, just kill the bloody thing, dont let it die so slowly.

But seriously, it seems more of a sexual fetish thing and if it goes beyond his marital relationship it could be classed a little strange.
I can think of worse things than a bloke dressing as a girl though.
being a scientologist comes to mind

I always wanted to know why on earth men would *want* to wear hot, uncomfortable, over-priced, "fashionable for one season only''' clothes that women with a normal metabolism have to diet or exercise obsessively to fit ..... forget about going to high fashion shops if you've had children or gravity has started to take effect either!

My family are scots, on one side, my cousins play the bag pipes, I love it..they all got married in kilts....you know robes were dresses tooo...Jesus wore robes I'm with you on the fetish thing....this one is tame compared with others! ewwww is all I can say ewewewewewww

Listening to Amazing Grace on the bagpipes can bring a tear to my eye. I am one of those strange people who enjoy them believe it or not.

I .. LOVE ... LOVE ... LOVE.... bagpipes. When we were in Glasgow about 20 yrs ago, we went to the world championship bagpipe competition....40,000 people there...and it was just AMAZING !!!

Talking about Amazing Grace being played on the pipes. A few months ago I visited my mothers grave, and just as I arrived at it......not far away (at the crematorium chapel I think) someone started playing Amazing Grace on the pipes. It timed perfectly to when I arrived at mum's grave....and it made me cry !!

I think it's a sign of deeper issues

do they then like to frequent gay/cross dressing bars while dressed up?

do they have some kind of gender identity issue?

do they get some kind of pleasure making straight men thinking they are women and hitting on them?


there's no reason I could think of that a christian male should be partaking in such behaviour.


I personally find male fashion boring and am a bit jealous of all the fashion options females have.

would I go so far as try and dress like a female, no.

I'm not one for quoting thousand years old scriptures and applying it in todays world as I see the world slowly evolving. Religion it seems evolves at a slower pace. My personal feelings are probably not far off from yours or most people here, however late in my years I'm beginning to see sexuality as irrelevant in the greater scheme of things in life.

Mmmmm, that's an interesting view, that you see sexuality as irrelevant in the greater scheme of things.... I might be getting older, a senior in fact, but I don't think I'd ever say I thought sexuality irrelevant....but each to their own opinion of course....

What I mean is we are not that different. Your a woman and I'm a man. Our bodies are different. We each have masculine and feminine traits, all of us. We are attracted to each other by appearance first then personality, usually any way The point is sex is not the most important thing in life, nor is sexuality. Their are many greater things in life more important then skin and bones.
