No, there is no mental disorder called transgenderism. Rather, transgenderism is defined as, " of, relating to, or being a person (as a transsexual or transvestite) who identifies with or expresses a gender identity that differs from the one which corresponds to the person's sex at birth".
Now GID is classified as a mental disorder with a strict set of diagnosing criteria and with clearly defined cures. So, someone who is transgendered does not necessarily have a mental disorder -- though some do -- just as a Christian does not have a mental disorder, again, though some Christians do.
And, just because a person has in the past been diagnosed with GID does not mean they still have GID, nor does it make them unfit to serve on the Supreme Court or in any other position. Just as someone that in the past was diagnosed for Major Depressive Disorder (another mental disorder which we commonly just call Depression) does not mean they still have it, nor does it make them unfit for the Supreme Court.
You're really just talking semantics here. Transgenderism, transsexualism and Gender identity disorder are basically the same thing.
