Jesus suprised?

i was wondering, in Luke 8:45 when the bleeding woman touched Jesuses coat, he didn't know who touched him. isn't he suppose to know everything?

Chances are he asked that to make the woman say it publicly. It would be for both her benifit and the crowds that followed Jesus to witness this sign of faith.

This is a similar verse in that it is a way of making a point.
Gen 3:9-11
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
(KJV)

Now God knew all this before hand and was just wanting them to say it themselves.

Jesus did have at least one thing that he did not know.
Mark 13:32
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
(KJV)

While Jesus was on earth he set aside some of his attributes. He limited himself in certain ways. He got hungry, tierd, thirsty, etc. He made himself an example of what we should be, in that he was obedient to the Father and served the Father, etc.

Jesus's self limitations in no wise diminishes his divinity. It shows his love for us in that he condesended to become a man for our benifit.
Phil 2:6-11
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I agree with Project 86. The only way Jesus doesn't know who touched His cloak and why, is if the Father didn't tell Him. But I find that unlikely because there was a ministry opportunity in it. Plus, like P86 said, He wanted her to declare her faith openly in that big crowd--not just for her benefit, but for the benefit of all the others. Jesus is kinda cool like that.

He knew exactly who touched Him. He asked so that she would procalim her faith (remember Jesus stated to her "Your faith has made you whole"? The way we activate our faith is by speaking (Faith speaks)

This idea that the Father didn't tell him has no merit and is incorrect.

Exactly. When Jesus approached the blind man who called for him. Jesus asked him what he wanted. Jesus knew exactly what he needed. He could see that the man was blind. The man was questioned so that he would speak his faith.

That is why we are commanded in the word of God to ASK. even though God knows what we have need of, we are to ask. The act of asking, activates our faith whereby we receive what we have need of.

(That is why unspoked requests are unscriptural, Jesus said that we are to ask).

I think it is fairly obvious, by exactly this passage you cited, newbie, that at the very least, Jesus on Earth didn't know the future in its entirety. We shouldn't try to twist the scriptures to fit our preconceived notions of who Jesus is.

Actually, the bible does say that God tests our faith. A prime example of this is in Job.

In many ways, God tests us.

I don't know for sure, Newbie. But remember what the Bible is--a collection of biographies and letters. Jesus didn't write any of the New Testament. It was mostly written by His apostles or their friends. They may not have known why Jesus reacted the way He did when the woman touched His cloak. In fact, the scripture says that He was in the middle of huge crowd, and people were jostling him from all sides. It seemed impossible to know who He was referring to. There are several instances in the Bible that reveal how the apostles sometimes just didn't 'get it'. Maybe this was one of those times.

Wonderful, hasbeen. When the Bible interferes with your preconceptions, decide the Bible is wrong and that the authors weren't inspired. Jesus knew a few things about the future like his death and resurrection, but other than that he was a human being just like the rest of us and there's no Bible evidence to suggest he had some magic abilities beyond what any human being can attain through faith.
