VATICAN CITY (CNS) — The Catholic Church is not selective: each one of its members is a sinner and part of the holy, faithful people of God, Pope Francis said in an interview marking his 10 years as pope.

Vatican News March 10 published excerpts of the interview with RSI, a Swiss radio-television broadcasting in Italian. The full interview was to be aired and available online March 12.

Responding to why some people feel excluded from the church, the pope said, “Sin is always there. There are men of the church, women of the church who create this distance.”

“There is a bit of the vanity of the world, feeling more righteous than others, but it is not right,” he said. “We are all sinners. At the hour of truth put your truth on the table and you will see that you are a sinner.”

When Jesus asks that everyone be brought to his table, “it means that no one is excluded,” the pope said.

“When the guests did not come to the feast, he said go into the main roads and invite to the banquet whomever you find: the sick, the good and the bad, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, everyone,” he said.

“We must not forget this: the church is not a home for some, it is not selective,” the pope said. “The holy, faithful people of God are this: everyone.”

True.
He pours out graces to all because His heart is unconditional non stop love.
That said; He doesn't chose for us to avoid His offering.

If only people opened their hearts.

How does the pope see this?
All are invited to the feast! BUT - while all are admitted to the "hall", NOT ALL are seated "at the table". "A wedding garment" is needed, before "the table" is possible.

Furthermore, if the wedding garment was possessed, but soiled and inappropriate, unacceptable for use, it should have been made ready and acceptable before trying to enter the place of the table:
and again,
and again:
As Jesus put it so simply, to a sinner: "Go, [and] from now on do not sin any more.” (Jn 8:11). This is His call to sinners - not "come on in, have a seat and we will dine together." As Jesus continued to His audience:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me (present tense) will not walk in darkness, but will have (future tense) the light of life.” (Jn 8:12)

I understand the Pope to mean that Jesus does not want the invitation avoided to some. But given to all. Howsoever their garments [souls] remain afterwards, due to the invite for all, will be up to them.
For this shows all are given the op.

Matthew 10:
12As you enter the house, greet it. 13And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. 15Truly, I say to you, it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.

Just let em be ... if you tried for naught. ^^^
