We are very concerned about heating prices this Winter as well. Thanks Joe Biden. The one thing I was poorly prepared for earlier this year was a storm that took out electricity to the neighborhood for almost four days. A tiny bit prepared, but not enough. I had three battery backups, enough to start our on demand water heater (needs electricity) and run a pump to my fish tank and keep my modem and network up. I'd deplete one and drive to my daughter's house for a recharge while the other was working. Needless to say that would not power a refrigerator. That's sort of the one area where I feel highly vulnerable. But then of course natural gas prices are on a steady steep incline. I expect it to be painful to pay for heat this winter. As long as I can pay I can stay warm. But if the electricity goes out there's not a lot I can do. I've been thinking of a solar panel and battery and inverter but those cost some serious cash.
