• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Issues in Scienceville.

You fit into this category:
"Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)

How can it happen exactly as it said, if it didn't happen in the order that it says it happened in?

Very good question Jro. Maybe I'll send the answer to you in a pm so some of these others won't be able to hear the answer.

It's the best place to have yourself be. You can refute all of their garbage, without having to listen to their inan3...sorry, I mean, inane responses.

That doesn't make any sense Cabal. How can you refute something you don't listen to?? Now that IS inane!!!

P.S. That insult has already been used. Not very original. "Right out of the manual" I say, "right out of the manual." BTW you've been on IGNORE for awhile, but now "I" get to select WHICH posts I choose to respond to without cluttering up my pages with all your dribble such as this post. And who are you trying to kid you LOVE it when we respond to you... it feeds your nacissism. Here's a website you might enjoy. http://www.0eb.com/

According to the traditional parlance (or at least, the lingo that's been used for as long as I've been on these boards, for what that's worth), you're what we used to call an OEC -- Old Earth Creationist.

Yes, I'd agree... with a little twist. Why do you say "used to?" Don't they call them that anymore?

Not very original.

Unsurprisingly, given how long you've been posting inane comments.

but now "I" get to select WHICH posts I choose to respond to without cluttering up my pages with all your dribble such as this post.

Which means you don't post as much, and there is less of your dribble on the board in general.

Win-win. Please, feel free to put more people on ignore.

Which means you don't talk as much, and there is less of your dribble on the board in general.

Win-win.

I still talk a lot just not to you. And I don't mind talking to you if you want to be civil but if not you and Belk can talk to each other. Enough said!

Even so, it means when I expose the flaws in your points I won't have to wade through a dozen extra posts responding specifically to me throwing the words "elitism" and "narcissist" around where they don't belong. Thanks for making things even easier

And I don't mind talking to you if you want to be civil

Right back at you.

Civil apparently means not disagreeing with her idea that all biology scientists are either dishonest hacks who falsify their data or incompetent cowards who just tow the line to keep their job.

And disagreeing with the pitiful attempt to justify it is elitist and narcissistic, apparently.

Disagreement does not civility negate!

Again, it depends what's being disagreed with.

If the opening salvo is a smear on an entire profession backed up with next to no evidence, particularly when it's a profession held by a significant portion of the board membership, that's pretty much civility gone out the window as far as that side of the argument is concerned.

Well, if you guys would just stop using science to unlock the truth about reality, then maybe some people's belief systems wouldn't be threatened! Then, we could all be civil. Sheesh.

Or maybe SOME people could refrain constructing belief systems akin to a house of cards made out of wet crepe paper.

A belief system that's meant to describe reality that DOESN'T describe reality is a bit of a non-starter, really!

The real problem is belief systems that describe reality before reality is revealed. (i.e. creationism hundreds of years ago) Afterwords, many stick to the beliefs that have been ingrained in their culture, even though they have been proven wrong.
