I have always heard people talk about heaven and stuff...but how do you know that thats the right thing to belive in? i mean, there are other religions that belive they go somewhere...some dont belive they go 2 heaven, so whats the right one to belive in? i mean, other religions have people that are more involved and stuff with what they belive in...what if everyone who is a christian spends their whole life living for someone they call Jesus whom they have never seen before, but they still for some weird reason belive in him...and then when they die, they realize that they have chosen the wrong religion and they go somewhere bad bc they didnt belive in the right one...i dunno if this makes a lot of since, but i have been worried about it for sooo long! im scared to make the wrong decision... its easier to explain what i mean when im talking to some1 in person or on msn or something, so ya...if u wanna talk...im always on the comp...but i would really like an answer :/ im so confused...

~hAyLeE

What you have done wrong is not believe and put more faith in god. But all i have to say is you beleive what you make you're self strong in. I believe their is a heaven becuase my mom saw it when she was brutally attacked by two guys and was in the hospital for almost a month. How do I know this I know this becuase she said she could not describe it. I am not saved yet but I am looking for more questions myself. But you got to be careful in what you follow becuase at times satan will make something sound good but at that time it is not.

Dear guitar gurlO 7,republican`s reply is a good one.May I too,say a few words?God is pure Love,He cannot hate, not you or anybody else.Thousands upon thousands of men and women believ in a Heaven,it is up to you to choose to go there.Start bringing all your worries to God in prayer, tell Him your feelings,be honest with Him and ask Him the right way to go.If you know God you will also want to praise and thank Him.Push hard:"Pray until something happens"Sincere greetings from Emmy,a sister in Christ.P.S.God will answer you.

he Bible says that there is, and how many things are there that we cannot see but know exist? We know that atoms and molecules exist and that we are reflections of light. Eternity and heaven are real places that are all around us but we don't see. Someday, though, we will know as we are known by God.

1Co 13:12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

2Co 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1Co 2:9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him."

Remember, Christians aren't Christians because of doctrines, but because of Christ.

im scared to make the wrong decision...

So, what are your choices?

and like for some reason, i have this longing to be happy like everyone else who r christians...ive tried accepting God, but i never was really happy...i wonder y this is?? is it normal? i think God hates me...i wonder what i have done wrong....

Does God really hate you? Do you have a Bible? Get it out and read Romans, chapter 5. The answer will surprise you.

I understand what you're trying to say. Its not that you don't believe in a higher power, or heaven, but how do you know God and Jesus or correct? What is islam is the right choice? Or buddhism? I struggled with this too. It was a fear of mine. I believed in a creator, but what if I was wrong? Other religions truly believe in their creator too! What made me "special?" And no Bible verse preached to you is probably gonna matter. What you need to do is just sincerely pray to God and pour your heart out and be open for an answer. And get in the Bible. He will begin to give you peace with your "decision" and you will begin to learn for yourself why Jesus is the only way to heaven. God bless you! I do understand what you're saying.

Compare the other god's miracles with Jesus'. He fed at least 4,000 men, plus women and children not once but twice. He also walked on water. He raised from the dead. God raised the dead not once but several times, one time a vast army! That's the Christian god. Try having the other god's compare with that. BTW, He also turned water into wine.

The important thing here is that you are considering such matters. If you can realize the importance of the questions you are asking, you must also realize that it needs your attention, your effort. Strive to find that which you can accept. It's pointless asking others to make up your mind for you - each must come to their own spiritual destination.

There is no easy answer to the question 'Why do you believe what you believe?'; it takes us as long as we have lived to come to where we are now - not easily condensed into a paragraph or three. For me, and many others, God's hand in our lives is plain to see. But there is no way for me to detail my life in such a way that you would live it. Just like asking what I see - I can tell you what I see ... but you will not see through my eyes, and you can never be sure that the grass I see looks the same shade of green to me as it does to you...

God's promise is, Whosoever seeks, shall find. So... if you're honest about seeking... I can testify for myself, God's promise is true - you will find!

Try not to refere to the bible

Why not? If someone comes to a Christian message board and posts a message about the Judeo-Christian God in a Christian forum, it's perfectly reasonable to refer them directly to the source.

...and rethink your answer.

No, thank you. It's a good answer.

My point that Christianity is not based on doctrines but on Christ is valid. That is, that the doctrines that shape Christianity are based on the teachings of Christ.

My question to him regarding what choices he is considering when he's worried about making the "wrong choice" is a reasonable one.

Refering him to Romans 5, when he has a question about God's love for him is appropriate.

Hayley, you seem to have a lot of questions.

Perhaps you feel you had to appear to accept God because everyone around you did - family, people at church?
Now you're a bit older and are thinking things through deeply. That's Ok - don't stop using your brains!

As a starting point, can I ask how you feel about the bible - do you read it, do you trust that it is reliable, or not sure? Can you tell us why/why not?

Where else do you search for answers to life's questions?

God bless, Susana

Hayley,
Glad you came back.
I hope your ready for a long read today!

Questions are fine - a sign that you are maturing and thinking deeply.
The problem is, you’re having difficulty in finding answers that satisfy you.

You say God “never did show up” when you were seeking Him.
All I can say is, don’t be surprised by that.
God doesn’t generally show Himself to anyone. It’s really rare, and usually only for people He wants to do something really difficult – He knows they need an extra boost of faith.

For most of us, faith means pretty much blind trust in God, despite not seeing Him or hearing directly from Him speaking into our ears. We find good reasons to trust, then stick at it regardless of the way we feel emotionally.

So how does a person find enough evidence to build a faith in Jesus?

You can look for signs that God has been at work – the world, the stars, living things are so amazing. Look at he way people who claim to know Jesus behave (yes, I know we’re not always a good advert.)

You can read the Bible, maybe with someone to help you understand the difficult things, and see how it makes such good sense, that God must be working through it.

Bear in mind that it was penned by many hands, over thousands of years, covering events in different countries, and they mostly didn’t even know each other.
How could they all be saying the same things, making sense, building up such a complete picture of God?

You can read a book that explains how others have made this journey.
I particularly recommend Lee Strobel’s “The Case For Christ.”

He was a “stone-hearted, atheistic journalist” (his own words), working in Chicago for 13 years.

Then he decided to explore the Bible, looking for loopholes and mistakes, scientific and logical reasons to continue in his unbelief and argue more effectively with believers.

He asked the opinions of experts in such things as science, history and psychology.
In the end he found, to his surprise, that the Bible is reliable, and gave his life to Christ.

You can pray for God to give you faith too, but in the end you yourself have to make a little step towards Him.
I'm praying for you too.

You say you wonder if He has given up on you.
No - God never will give up trying to help you find the way, so don’t you give up searching will you?

God bless you Hayley,
Susana

Yeah, that's the amazing truth:
And is there a heaven? As 12-volt says, Jesus isn't dead. So we know the answer to that!
