Is there anything sacred anymore?

if i can be honest? i don't mean to step on any toes here, but i think you are making a big issue out of "nothing"

OK, its not exactly nothing, but at least the people who wrote that are reading the Our Father (or know it...) I think it is distasteful and i wouldn't dare write such a thing because God would frown on it. But there are worse things people do that offend God... fornication, adultery, and all other sins which add up to idolatry: loving somehting or someone more than you love God.

i could tell you are not Catholic because Catholics (most?) don't get offended unless Christ himself is being profaned (or howevery you say it).

Christ is what is sacred, not just words.

what is really shameful in this world is people rejecting Christ by destroying the unborn... promoting homosexuality, etc

God doesn't just "frown" on that. He punishes it severely

Amen.

I agree completely, this is nowhere near blasphemy...just someone doing something in bad taste.

I am Catholic and I would have done exactly as the OP has done. Stand up and object to that sort of thing.

What in the world is wrong with folks? This may not be blasphemy but it is still from Holy Scripture and should be respected. Real blasphemy is a major problem in at least the United States right now and it is taken so lightly that nothing seems to shock us anymore.

I am sure that this is why Jesus warned that we would be hated by people because of Him.

This is the WORD OF GOD that is being mocked, folks.

Caught up in the excitement of the sport???? So how far should people go when "caught up" in the sport? How far?

I think you can guess where I stand on this one. I am the one who writes G-d in my posts. I have actually received a fair amount of mocking and attacks for respecting His name in this way.

If a person does a study of the scripture and what it teaches about names and specifically the name of G-d , it is not a side issue. It is actually one of the Ten Commandments not to take His name in vain.

Consider that the very hand of G-d himself wrote on stone tablets Ten commandments. out of the thousands of things that could have been written , one of the ten chosen was concerning the sacredness of His name.

Exo 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.

Some more passages... did you ever wonder why it speaks about His name. Is it just being poetic ?

Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul; He guideth me in straight paths for His name's sake.

Psa 7:17 (7:18) I will give thanks unto the LORD according to His righteousness; and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

By the way , this is the basis for the tradition of writing G-d. It has to do with respecting His name.

Deu 12:3 Their altars and their pillars are to be broken down, and their holy trees burned with fire, and the images of their gods cut down; you are to take away their names out of that place.
Deu 12:4 Do not so to the Lord your God.
