Why can't I be a Christian and believe in evolution?

I recognize the fall of man, the deity of Christ, and believe God is a trintiy. Why can I not be considered a Christian?

Jesus said you need to be born again. If you confess with your mouth that Christ is Lord and that he paid our sin debt on the cross as a perfect sinnless sacrifice, and three days later rose from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit of God to help guide those who believe. I would say you are a Christian.
I myself believe in a literal interprtaion of the Creation as read in Genesis. Christ said also through one man, sin and death entered into the world. If Adam is that first man and there was death before him, through the gradual evolutionary process, then Jesus was lying. For a few years after I was born again I held onto my evolutionary beliefs. I thought God could have used it to bring man into the world, but as I read more and more and meditated on Gods word I felt a conviction to change my view on origins. Read the Bible and meditate on it ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Heed what your heart tells you.
Just remember what my view or anyone elses view of origins is, it will always be debated on, and until we die or Christ comes and takes us to be with Him we will never know 100%. I think we all will be humbled before the Lord.

Evolution is about the changes that occur in things that already exist. It has nothing to do with its origins. An evolutionist is not one who denies that God created the universe out of nothing. That is called an "atheist". An evolutionist only says that that which already exists (i.e. that which has been created by God) goes through changes as it reproduces over time. I don't think that you have to be an atheist to believe that.

Or out of stuff, for those who are going to equivocate big bang theory with evolution, that God created ex nihilo and then began said process.

One of my personal pet peeves...how the heck can some people equivocate things like that?!

I'm curious why you ask this. I know of no YEC ministry that believes this is a salvation issue.

A literal Genesis is the logical foundation of the gospel. But people make illogical conclusions all the time.

So while it's important for christians to contend for the logical foundation of the gospel, it's also important they don't condemn believers in the gospel that are using bad logic.

Yes, only God is in the position to make the decision of who is saved or not. However it does present a dilema as to whether or not we can truly trust what the Word of God has to say about salvation when it already has it wrong in Genesis to begin with.

The death referred to here is spiritual death. Jesus called the physically dead "sleeping", as we know from Matthew 9:24

Please let me refer you to these passages of scripture.
Matt 10:21, 15:4, 20:18 and 24:9
Mark 9:1, 10:33 and 13:12
Luke 21:16
John 12:33

I believe Christ in these passages is refering to physical death including His own death. I am not saying that He did not also refer to spiritual death in other passages, but both.

In these passages, Jesus is not soon to perform a resurrection, so he does not distinguish between types of death.

Nicely worded.

I've heard a number of people say words to the affect that they cannot believe a God who used evolution to create the life forms we now see can be a good God, or a wise Creator.

Scripture is very clear that sin entered the world as a result of one man's disobedience. That had lasting consequences on both humanity and the environment.

Here is a list of areas that are influenced by your beliefs of Genesis 1 and 2:

- God created man to have dominion over Creation.
- Man is supreme in all creation.
- Sin entered the world as a result of one man's disobedience.
- God created man in His image. Man is different to the animals.
- Sickness and death are the result of sin.
- Marriage is between a man and a woman.
- The woman was created a 'helper' for man.
- The suffering a woman experiences in childbirth, and man experiences in work are part of the curse bought on the world by sin.

the basis of Evolution was proved incorrect over ten years ago, when scientists proved the Big Bang Theory. this basis was that evolution was possible in a static universe, which is non-existent, as the universe non-static (moving) therefore, the theory of evolution is bogus.

sorry, i was talking about the theory of Darwinian Evolution, actual evolution is real, as seen by all sorts of animals and people. Darwinian Evolution is off the basis that the universe is infinitely old and infinitely large(static). Emmanuel Kant (german philosopher, 1724-1804) said that the a static universe is possible but it must mantain the conditions essential for elements to assemble themselves into living systems. But, if the universe is infinite, than and infinite number of times, the dice of chance is thrown. if there are an infinite number of throws, then the chances alone would be inconcievable. Emannuel Kant has therefore denied Darwin the foundation for his beliefs.

Do evolutionists have to deny a flood that covered the whole earth? It seems to be something consistant with all TE's on here from my perspective.

yes because there is no evidence for it and mountains against it.
but be careful there is a distinction between universal and global flood.
