  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is the KJV more than a translation

Stabat Mater dolorosa

It was the best translation there was at the time it were first published.
Stylistically brilliant and generally speaking it was great in many ways.

Since then the methods of translations have improved immensely and since the time of KJV we've discovered the Masoret scripts which makes KJV outdated as it did with most translations of its time.

They were good, but now they've served their purpose and should be put to rest on the shelf making room for better translations.

I definitely believe. The bible is my primary source of wisdom regarding my relationship my creator, and a subset of that - my relationship with my fellow man. But when, at the end of Romans, Paul is giving salutations to his friends in a letter he wrote to a church, I don't call that "the word of God". Contrarily, when it is in red, well, I do see that as the word of God. Like I said, the bible definintely contains the word of God, but never claims to be the word of God.

Remember, when scripture is mentioned in the bible, it is not talking about the bible. It had not yet been compiled and much of what is in it had not yet been written. It is talking about some of the information in the OT, however. "Scripture" just means "something written down".

And much of it has been contaminated like Mt> 28:13 And he said to them, a man (ανθρωπος), an enemy (FIEND), has don this thing. And the servants said to him, Do you wish that we should go and gather (συλλεγω) them up? 40 As therefore the weeds (FIENDS) are gathered and calcinated in the fire, so it shall be in the end of this world.

There seems a specific culture that looks at the KJV as the supreme authority of the written word of God above all else.
The KJV was translated by Anglicans. The KJV has provable translation errors. God's word was not written in English.
