Like the heading says.. I just wanted to know if the body was considered Holy and why?

I was also wondering if Holyness is considered eternal and without 'death'? ..
Anotherwords if something is Holy, doesn't it not last forever? How can Holyness 'die' ?

So yeah, Im not sure if the body is Holy. I understand the spirit is but the flesh?
Any input is good input.

Thanks

Hi there.

Okay, so I dont know if you were looking for someone to give you a Bible reference, but I have one

2 Corinthians 6:15 "Don't you realize that your bodies are actually parts of Christ? Should a man take his body, which is part of Christ, and join it to a prostitute? Never!"
2 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Don't you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? you do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with our body."

Im not sure if this was what you were looking for, but that is my input. Hope I helped .

No, Our Bodies are Not Holy.
They Hosue our Souls, and our Souls belong to God, as such, the Body is the Temple of our Spirit.

God Bless

Yeah I though, so I was just double checking.

So if the spirit is Holy and the body is not, then anything against the body is just irrelevant in comparison yes?

Only the body of a person with the Holy Spirit dwelling within is holy, and only because it houses the Holy Spirit - sort of holiness by association. When a person leaves his or her body because of physical death, the Holy Spirit goes with the person, and the body returns to dust.

Edit: person with Holy Spirit = Christian of any stripe

So Christians have a Holy body and non Christians dont?

I understand the spirit is Holy which would dwell within the body and leave once it leaves but in all that time it just shows that the body is a shell, and isnt Holy without the spirit and is basically irrelevant because we leave it behind(If one chooses Christs way).We leave it behind because we choose to love 'more' than just the body and idols in this lifetime. This 'more' is God unseen and through our love for Him we find Him.

I understand Christians will believe that only Christians will be 'saved' because this is indeed true. But everybody is from the same source which means the message must be universal. And the message is love and true forgivness imo which means anybody who has these qualities are 'Christ minded' and can reunite with the source. For love is universal and sings in the heart of each.

yes

Right again.

okay....

Okay, yes, we can all reunite with the Source - but Jesus is the only way to do that. He is THE sacrifice; He is our Peace. Without Him, none of it holds together.

Kazahel, if you're interested in finding out more, there are about a dozen Greek and Hebrew words used in the Bible for "holy."

Some simply mean that we have set ourselves apart for greater works, with a purifying mindset. (Gk: Hagiazo, a(gia/zw, Heb: Qodesh, Qadash)

Another means sacred and divinely connected, like sacred scriptures and the temple. (Heiros, iºero/v)

Most "holy" terms refer to the act of setting something apart for God. If we live as holy people, we refrain from things we know will draw us away from Him. We don't always live this out well, though.

God is completely holy because He does not give in to the temptations we might that keep Him from having pure intentions.

The Holy Spirit that Tal mentioned above gives us power to do these thing that we find ourselves too weak to do.

But the focus of our life is not on perfection towards purity; it is in connecting with this God of love who even helps us with our own holiness! Because He knows our tendency to live selfishly.

The body is very important for Christians.

The central tenet of Christianity is the resurrection of the body, and eternal life of the resurrected body.

The passions of the resurrected body though, will no longer be carnal flesh, but will be those of a 'spiritual' body.

This is a purpose for suffering, for it is only through suffering that we may become refocussed away from following the illusory pleasures of our own passions which are always toward carnal fulfillment of the flesh.

So yes, the body is holy because it is forever. What will not be forever though, is our domination by the carnal flesh.

For with our bodies resurrected, the passions will not be centred on the body, but will be centred on God.

As christians, we have died with Christ, and now live through and for Him. The body is holy since He owns it and we must do good with it. If we go back, and give ourselves up to doing wicked, then we are holy no longer. The holiness is through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Paul said it best:

'I have been crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life that I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.'

God makes us holy, but only if we submit ourselves to Him and His power to santify us through the blood of His lamb. Holy means "set apart", and we are set apart by the power He makes available to us through Jesus and the Holy Spirit which has been sent to us to guide us into all truth. So we play our part by deciding whether to submit ourselves in obedience or not.
The Bible says that they overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony that they loved not their own selfish lives, but fought the good fight of faith - not just laying down in sin, but purging themselves so that we could become vessels more fit for God's use.
The "spiritual" body is to come when we are like Jesus and inhabit the mansion He has prepared for us.

1Thess. 4:7 God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives.

2Tim. 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Rom. 6:19 I speak this way, using the illustration of slaves and masters, because it is easy to understand. Before, you let yourselves be slaves of impurity and lawlessness. Now you must choose to be slaves of righteousness so that you will become holy.

Rom. 6:22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.

Eph. 4:24 You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God’s likeness—righteous, holy, and true.

Rev. 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

1John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

There is a mystery in regards to the resurrection and how we become born again into the spiritual body.

It is important to note though, that it was the actual physical body of Jesus that became resurrected. Through placing his body, his whole self, into the service of the glory of God, his actual body becomes glorified, or transfigured, into a spiritual body, a spiritualized physicality so to speak.

In terms of change, to the extent that the body resurrected into glory is made incorruptible, it is eternal.
And be awarne that the body becomes imbued with the Spirit of Christ, who as alpha and omega, beginning and end, does not experience time as change. From the perspective of the Divine One then, changes of time and space themselves must be seen as more illusory than real, aspects of a Creation that is and was, and shall be, for eternity.

In the Old Testament, what is the indicator of how holy a place was? The indicator is, the presence of God. We know that both God and the devil, cannot have residence at the same time in the same body, because sin separates man from God. So, the body is holy, or sanctified, or, set apart for God by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit of God.
God created everything, and said "...it is good." The body therefore as created matter, is not inherently evil, but because of the inherited nature of death, neither is it holy until one is redeemed.

Our bodies are not irrelevant. They are the temples that hold our soul. We must be obedient in thought and deed.
