How many people have 'had that faith in eachother' and ended up giving the wrong idea about their relationship to impressionable young Christians, leading them into sin and/or unbelievers who used that as yet another example of Christian hypocrisy?

I don't understand why people would want to put themselves into tempting positions with their partner. In my opinion thats just asking for satan to intervene. Surely if you really plan to spend the rest of your lives together, waiting to go on holiday isn't such a big deal? And if it is...take a group of people, stay in separate tents an have some form of accountability!

You should def not do this trip even if your intentions are pure - you are still flesh and hormones like to take over when put in the place of opportunity....and you will have a week of opportunity. And we are called to be different, peculiar, and beyond reproach...Can the world see your light on the hill-- the purity, or can they just wonder about what might have happended...Let's make them wonder how God did this and that in our lives , not what we did with our b/f last night!!!! If you guys really want to do that, why don't you take someone with you? If you don't want to hear anything from others, that's what you should do. If what others might say don't matter to you, I think there's no problem. My point is, think first if people's assumptions about you won't affect you. If yes, don't. If no, then go ahead and enjoy each other's company.

I think soulfreed has got a good idea. Its not so much about the temptation because I know me and my bf could camp without something happening, but we would still never do it. The only thing is I think what ppl think of you when it comes to being a Christian is more important than how it makes you feel. I dont think we should give ppl any reason to assume bad things. Ppl should be able to tell that we are Christians. So if two young ppl who are clearly a couple go camping and pitch separate tents, I think that would make a nice loud statement. If you pitch one, it means you dont care if ppl cant tell the difference.

*All the 'you' s are general. This thread is old and you have likely made a decision a long time ago, so I am just speaking in general now*

AMEN! Love this verse, the SPIRIT is willing, but boy is our body weak, therefore knowing this I wouldnt suggest going the two alone, bring a couple of friends, her brothers and sisters, your brothers and sisters, make it a group thing, I would most certainly not recommend you that you go alone..... those are my two cents

Ergh, I know that this is a super-old thread, but reading through it gets me so mad!! The small group who are saying "go ahead, who cares what the world thinks" are just giving the most immature argument I've ever heard! They offer no scripture to back themselves up, the best they've got is a bunch of he-said-and-she-said-and-I-think kinda stuff. The rest of the world says "who cares what people think of me when I do this?" As Christians, we shouldn't be saying that. We should be saying "How do I look when I do this, and what kind of testimony am I giving?" It is our God-ordained ROLE to look out for everyone, and the immaturity of some of these posts is really grating on me badly!!! We can't pick and choose scripture to suit us - so unless the party who is 'for' camping together can give us something Biblical with which they are basing their beliefs on, then they are only proving that as 'Christians', they are doing exactly this - picking and choosing scripture to suit them. It doesn't matter if their parents think it's OK, or their friends, or even their pastors or ministers! Are any of these people God? I seriously doubt it. God's word clearly states that we are to be beyond reproach... as many have posted in this thread... so I'm buying this, and I'll preach it till my face turns blue until someone can show me a passage where God changes His mind about this....

Um I know this is an old conv but a word of warning, just be carefull who you camp with if you do camp. I went in a group of friends and shared a tent with a girl, she then told everyone that I was her lover. I don't have to tell you how horrendous that rumour was, I didn't know her that well I just ended up sharing because my better friends already had someone to share with.
Make sure you trust the people you go anywhere with no matter where, just because you might class them loosley as a friend doesn't mean you will escape from rumour or censure.

I see no problem with camping together. I mean, if you two really wanted to have sex, you would have done it already, going camping is not going to make you want to do it even more. If you have respect for each other and are committed to waiting, then camping shouldn't change that.

I agree with Keri, if you are both adults, there is no difficulty at all to have sex. Even if you live with people, it would still be easy if that is what you wanted to do.

If you want to avoid the temptations then I would say camp in different tents or something like that. But its not like adults couldn't have sex with eachother anyways if they want to.

My boyfriend and I share an apartment, but we abstain. It takes maturity. And as lng as you have Jesus, you can do it.
