... or are things coming to a head in OT?

I just seem to have a gut feeling that tensions are increasing, more YECs are feeling uncomfortable to post in OT, people are becoming increasingly harsh, either ultimatums are being made or nervous jokes trying to cover the fact that a decisive moment is at hand.

Maybe it's just me. It probably is. I look for plot all the time.

In any case, you won't be seeing me online any more within 24 hours. Personal reasons. I'll be off from 22nd July 'till 31st August. Count the days, google the date, you might get an idea what it's about.

It happens every so often- CF works in cycles, I find.

But I think the real life counterpart of this conflict is hitting a crisis as well. The public end of Young Earth Creationism has lost several of its most vocal spokesmen to death or imprisonment, and the future direction of their efforts seems unclear, with major disagreements taking place as to the status of micro-, macroevolution and Intelligent Design.

I've only heard of Henry Morris's passing away and Hovind's being jailed. Are there more of these leaders being lost to the movement? I really don't keep up with creationism as it exists outside ChristianForums and AiG.

Surely the split between AiG and CMI is a significant blow to the creationist cause. It is a separation of the financial wealth from the intellectual wealth of the creationist movement. That has to be majorly damaging.

Yes, it was some party. Midnight 31st August came for me in the lobby of a conference room after a youth conference. Suddenly somebody started shouting "Merdeka!" ("Freedom!") and we all joined in. It was lovely.

I've got some new toys to play with: Robert Farrar Capon's sacramentalist understanding of theology (against a transactional understanding), and an intriguing analysis of Leviathan and Behemoth in Job as being supernatural, not natural, creatures. I hope I get to use these ideas soon ...
