Hypnosis is used in virtually every medium and religion known to man. My uncle had hypnotherapy done to quit smoking, but I am in agreement with others about opening oneself up to evil powers when attempting to communicate with the spirit world.

I have never allowed myself to be put into an altered state of consciousness, but I will say that I'm a very difficult person to convince.

If I could rule the world I'd demand the legal smoking age to be raised to 60 for both men and women alike, and hold tobacco companies accountable for every death related to emphysema and lung cancer.

In Australia, tobacco advertising is no longer featured on radio, TV or magazines. However, they still gain considerable revenue from sponsoring sporting events.

Getting back on topic though: I don't believe that anyone can be hypnotised against their will. Even with the occult, one has a choice to be involved with it or not.

Also, be careful about labelling pagans as being 'of the devil'. I've found that there are a lot of Christians who are into spreading misinformation about such groups and their practises. Many of them are very wise and gentle souls, and they would certainly never use any remedy to abuse another person.

There may be very gentle and kindly pagans. I've had very good discussions with some of them. But to determine the nature of practicing paganism, and where this practice originates, you'd have to look and see what God has to say about it. I certainly don't judge those who do not know this. That is the Lord's business, and mine to shine the light of His word according to His command in hopes that will lead to the Lord's gracious provision of salvation. Anyone could operate under the same deceptions if not shown the truth by God's great and unfathomable mercy.

11:27All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Rather, instead of being a judgment against those who do not know Jehovah, this post is about the truth regarding the source of paganism, and why it exists. Not everyone who practices these things are aware of the implications. That's why a correct staement requires a careful look into God's word. Because that's the crux of the matter. God's authority.

But, that is a topic for another thread.

Fortunatly the term "Sin" does not apply to me, so I am free to explore this God given ability if I so choose.

We use hypnotism to get over things and in a safe enviroemtn learn abotu what we are feeling (this is general) believe me we tried to get my sister to let go of the divorce and there was no way in hell she was....you can't really coherace people into doing things they don't want to...you can only suggest to them.

Ok, I have come along a ways since i last posted in this. This is after putting college studies with that on the matter under my belt. Hypnosis is a state where a person focuses all their attention on one thing and in a state where they may become highly suggestable. This is, for me, when I mow the grass in large areas. I can be mowing and focus all my attention on the grass ahead. The sound of the lawn mower becomes constant and so there is no outside stimuli involved. My internal thoughts take over and not so much external awareness, (i.e. the things aorund me). This is a stage of hypnosis. It's a normal thing, or can be.. And folks, another thing and truth..

NOBODY CAN BE PUT INTO A STATE OF HYPNOSIS AGANIST THEI WILL.

That's a fact. It's not a wave the pocket watch, sorta thing.

Yes, it is a sin. Like so many things (tarot cards, astrology) it involves use (or channelling) of demonic spirits, whether people realise it or not. When someone gets involved in that kind of thing, they are opening themselves up to demonic spirits. I know people who have been majorly effected by involvement with this. Nowadays, it is being diguised as something innocent or "higher conciousness". Don't be fooled - (by pagans etc "conciousness classes") go to the source of all truth - The Bible.

I have better things to do with my time than lure Christians into demonic possession classes... You claim that hypnosis involves channeling demonic spirits. Prove it.

Again, note when it was written and that my ideas have altered a good dela, but for giggles, I will answer. Yes, it probably has been, and no there is no way of proving a single case because I'm not one to wander into every haunted house with a camera for interviews.

i will say this because, generally, with anything anyone believes they wil lfocus attntion to it. if someone wanted to teach or introduce new doctrines into the superego, this would be the way. I'm sure it has happened with every relgiion.

I, at that time, had more of the point in my mind that I leaned more towards it being "watch the pedulm and you will do what I say." as though it were some spell.

if you are in a deep trace, then you might. Generally they can be broken by changing the stimuli aorund, like moving, waving your arms, stamping your foot at the person. Because the deeper focus gets broken. or, ideas such as "When you wake up to a light, you will learn to fear lights." and for some reason they will fear light. This leans also into a Conversion Disorder. But it's a different thing.

there are many degrees of it.

I had an anxiety problem and went to a qualified hypnotist. I found the therapy quite helpful. At no time did I feel out of control.

I think if you believe something to be healing, providing it is not harmful physically or emotionally, then go for it. Even if the effect is only that of a placebo, if you think it is doing you good then it probably is.

It wouldn't surprise me if spychologically, the effects of self hypnosis were very similar if not identical to the effects of extended repetitive prayer.
