Is a visual depiction of Jesus good?

Since the 'picture' or 'statue' or whatever, isn't what is going to be worshipped, it really doesn't matter!

Catholics, or those 'others denominations' that you mention, do not 'worship' any of these things...we worship God. Full stop.

Do you worship photos of your loved one's...or do you find that when you look upon them you feel a warmth and affection for the person 'depicted' ?

When i kiss my crucifix, pray before a statue, pray the rosary or divine mercy chaplet, i am not 'worshiping' or giving veneration to these object's...they are helping me to focus more devoutly upon my Saviour. They are a method of devotion.

And just for your info, there are depictions of Christ in the Catholic Church, from light to dark skinned..we don't actually believe that we have an acurate depiction of Him ..unless you want to get into the Turin Shoud kind of conversation.

Visual images are more helpful and meaningful to some people than to others just as there are visual learners, auditory learners and those who learn best by reading or doing.

Those who like visual images of the Lord do not lack faith or vision and are not carnal. Those of us who do not need images, will clearly not be drawn to them, but it is selfish and petty to suggest that others not use them.

All of us do not have to worship alike or be aided in our relationship with Christ in the same way. For many people, visual images are a great aid in their spiritual life.

Personally, I don't care what Jesus looked like on earth. Man painted pictures do nothing for me, nor do statues or any of that stuff. They are just man made.Who needs them? What matters most is the very nature of Jesus, and what He had to say.
