iPods rules... I've got a discontinued 40 GB iPod Photo and love it.. Currently I'm using 19.2 GB of that. I use it in my car with the iTrip, and if I wanted to spend more $$$, I can buy the adapter so that my Alpine reciever in the car could control it...

So, to answer the OP, go iPod all the way... Minis seem to be only for those with a very small music collection, or those who want to carry only part of it with them...

Oh, and by the way, it isn't $200 to replace the iPod battery... First off, they last about 3 years. Second, Apple charges $99 to replace. Third, you can buy DIY kits for around 50-60...

I have some ipod questions. I have been recently wanting to purchase an ipod and I needed to know some stuff about it. First off, if I have a windows xp, is that compatible with an ipod. Second, would I just buy an ipod or is there other things that I need to buy with it, when I do buy it. Third, how would I get my cd's on the ipod through my computer? Through windows media player? Because that it how I burn my cd's and I am just completely confused about music downloading and such. I went on apple's ipod site and have read up on them, but I am just so technologically challenged...lol

the iPod is compatible with windows XP. As long as your computer has a USB 2 port you should be set just buying the iPod. You may choose to buy some additional accesories, but that's all you would need. You would get your CD's on the iPod using iTunes, which comes with the iPod or you can download from Apple's website. You don't want to use windows media player to import your CD's, it will import them all in a format that won't work on the iPod. The iPod will come with instructions on how to use it. you can also go to www.ipodlounge.com for a lot more information and to ask questions.

I have been converting my WMA files into itunes...and I was wondering.. is this all I have to do in order to play them in an iPod?
You convert them into iTunes and then when you sync up your iPod it will automatically send them over to it, unless you set it up so that you manually control what gets sent over and what doesn't.

I was thinking about buying the Shuffle because it's so inexpensive, but I don't like not being able to control the music order.
You have the option to play the songs through at random or in order that they are loaded on to it. If you load in 200 songs, you could have them play in the order that you load them and then you would always have some control over what you are listening to.

Check the options you have on WMP, if you aren't careful it will protect the songs you rip as wma files where you can't convert them to iTunes.

I hate being poor. I can't afford a big music collection and an IPOD. i get jealous and mad over all the people that are so rich they can afford the big IPOD and all the music to fill it and then some. Why not spend some of that money to help others. I'n not saying to live a life of poverty but some people's music collections are crazy. I guess that's just my jealousy talking though, it's not like I'm ultra generous, just not rich like others. What ever happened to good old CD's anyway.

So sorry to offend you. I didn't mean to. I hope that you can one day afford an iPod if that is what you want or a bigger music collection or whatever. I come from a family where my dad is a custodian and my mom doesn't work. So I am not rich materialistically but I am rich in the grace of God! Music and the computer are where I use my money for entertainment and leisure. All that I have is just a blessing from God. I try to be generous and I try to glorify God even with the use of my money. But, I by no means try to offend you. Please don't be angry. God bless!

That's how my current MP3 player is and I hate having to skip through songs to get to the one I want.

With the Mini or "regular" iPod, can't you program the listening order?

I'm sorry. Like I said. I'm just jealous really. I'd probably buy an ipod along with a bunch of songs from ITunes and regular CD's if I could afford it. I'd just hopefully make sure to give a good amount to charity first. I am a music freak, so that why I get jealous at this. I know not all the people that have those big collections are greedy people but a good amount are. I don't want to judge anyone at the same time though, because like I keep on saying. I'd buy all that stuff too if I could.

don't take it so hard on yourself... I don't have an Ipod, and its not like I want one either. Too many people buy ipods just for the *bling*bling* , if you know what I mean. There are better things to do in life then walk around with the white buds stuck up your ears.

If you must get a music player, I'd recommend an RCA Lyra over the Ipod schuffle any day. It has expandable memory (unlike the schuffle) and actually has a screen. Technology ain't cheap...

I got an iPod mini with 4GB... I really am impressed with my purchase. Bytheway is correct, though, definitely not enough memory. I can only put my favorite songs on it, yet I still really like it.

Dont get an ipod 60GB - to much memory and to expensive.

Get an ipod 40GB
Not enough or too much for who? I don't think I'd need more than even 4GB of music at any given time, but I have 74GB available for me to listen to, so even the biggest wouldn't hold it all
